That strong, enthusiastic woman are not for Biden or any male candidate. That these strong woman wont get out and stump for men any longer.
Now, I consider myself not only strong and a woman but a huge liberal political junky.
Im asking other strong women to tell us why you support Joe Biden.
If you are a man supporting a woman candidate, I welcome your comments, please.
In either case, please, no bashing or arguments against anyone.
Thanks.
Edit: I realize I made the field narrow. Thanks for the more general male candidate debate.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

I admire Joe. Am also a Swalwell fan. Both are very intelligent.

(115,732 posts)whether male or female. I'm still undecided; I want to wait until everyone has declared, released their tax returns, and has a chance to shine (or not) in the debates. I can enthusiastically support a male candidate. That could be Joe Biden; it could be Beto or Buttigieg or Booker or Inslee or someone else. I can enthusiastically support a female candidate. That could be Harris, Warren, Klobuchar or someone else. I want to see what all of them are made of.

(102,289 posts)for (most) of the male candidates, however. I remain undecided. And, I have had decades to show my own propensity for "strength" and staunch feminism.
I will be out there hitting the streets and phones for our candidate and I'm ok with nearly any of them as long as they can take down Trump, work quickly and efficiently to reverse the damage to our government and our institutions, and honor the core of our progressive/liberal/Democratic ideals.

(3,259 posts)Seems like a foolish comment to make.
I would say with respect to that comment, some are trying to harm Biden in any way possible and that includes by trying to demoralize his supporters. Just yesterday an Info Wars video was used here to attack Biden. Not in a way to show what the right was going to do to him. Actual support and promotion of the video itself. Biden has a certain group starting to become unhinged and the attacks often don't make sense, simply because of how hard they are trying.
As far as my thoughts, I do have gender bias in my vote. Women get preference. That does not mean I will only vote for a woman.

(7,142 posts)our candidate needs to be as tough as nails to beat Trump. So far I have nailed my choices down to 3 women and 1 man. I don't even give a shit about policy at this stage, my only concern is that our candidate has to stand toe to toe with Trump and knock him out.

(11,238 posts)You changed 'no bashing or making arguments against candidates' to a very different 'no bashing or arguments against anyone'.
It's really not kosher to change the parameters of your question without acknowledging the fact.

(11,238 posts)I read carefully before I answer a post.
I asked "Isn't supporting a man who hasn't even declared his candidacy tantamount to making arguments against the candidates?"
Your answer "Not any more than smearing a man before he has declared"wouldn't make sense if you merely meant arguments against generic or random anyones.
Your answer didn't make sense anyway. How is criticizing (or, as you would have it, "smearing" ) a person making an argument against other, unidentified persons?

(146,317 posts)In 2016, I supported a woman, Hillary Clinton, for the same reason. For me, the sex of the candidate is irrelevant. It is ability and capability of winning that I care about, and only that. I will do the same in 2020, supporting the Democratic nominee, whoever that turns out to be.
I do not choose political candidates based on gender or sex. That would be stupid. Both of my state's senators are women, as is my House representative. I have supported all of them in their campaigns.
What we need is a candidate who can win. That's the primary criterion for me in 2020.

(4,608 posts)who can kick the tar out of Dump. I don't give a crap if they are male, female, or a freakin' golden retriever.
That should be the #1 priority for all of us. We need to draw a firm, decisive, unassailable line under Dump's reign of terror in 2020. It's all that matters.
I like many of our candidates a lot, but think several of my personal favs stand no chance of winning against Dump in the general. Thems the breaks. I hope they get Cabinet positions or other roles in the new Administration.
We must be realistic or we'll have 4 more years of a raging dumpster fire and horrid judicial appointments. Good luck protecting and advancing progressive policies and ideas then.
Forgot to add: I'm a woman. I'd love to vote for the first woman President, but I just don't think it's gonna happen this time around.
As of right now, Joe Biden is the only one with broad enough appeal and the name recognition to pull in the number of votes needed for a decisive victory. And I like Joe, so that's a bonus. But, it's still early. The debates might be a game changer. We'll see what happens.

(22,756 posts)I call bullshit on that comment... strong, smart, enthusiastic women will support the best candidate to right this Country as soon as possible... I would love to see a woman President, I desperately wanted Hillary to be President... right now I am supporting the person I think has the best chance to win, the experience to get to work done quickly and the wisdom to do the right thing when needed...
I consider myself a progressive liberal, strong, smart and pragmatic when necessary for the good of the whole

(42,334 posts)We have several strong women candidates who are being virtually ignored by the media, except for negative reporting. Meanwhile, the male candidates are getting lots of attention, mostly positive.
The women have well-thought-out policy ideas, strong backgrounds and resumes and are raising good amounts. Remember last week or so when the media spin on Harris' $12 million haul was "boy that makes Mayor Pete's $7 million look good!" (Nothing against Mayor Pete.)
All things being relatively equal, I will support a woman candidate in the primary. I also will campaign vigorously for whomever is the nominee.

(6,474 posts)an African American and a Woman for President in last 3 elections over 12 years. 98% of us have earned the right to select the best candidate available regardless of race, creed, color, sex, religion and sexual orientation. (Constitution discriminates against national origin and age to a degree) If anything this party is discriminating against the old, white male over the last 14 years-but most of us have voted for the non-traditional candidate for many national, state and local elections. I'm voting for the best candidate PERIOD-and then I'll vote for the Democratic nominee in November 2020
