(1,185 posts)The supporters attacking me were Bernie's. Not Biden's.
I first supported Harris, then Warren, now Biden. I voted for Bernie in 2016.
I don't know if every last Bernie supporter in that FB group is a Russian troll. But I do know that they are attacking everyone who isn't supporting Bernie, and that was enough for me to unsubscribe. I don't need that.
That said, I've got a relative -- who isn't a Russian troll -- who attacked me and some other people on FB this week for not supporting Bernie. She called us Trump supporters, for heaven's sake.
There's some ugly stuff out there, and I want none of it.

(68,613 posts)I changed some posts! Your are my favorite Warren supporter! One caveat all Warren supporters are nice and I can't think of one I dislike. I appreciate your congratulations. I am truly sorry about Warren...I liked her and would happily have voted for her. I know she will continue to make us proud. I consider myself as much a Warren supporter as a Biden supporter. I didn't appreciate her in the beginning but as the campaign continued, she became my second choice. I would hope that Biden would consider her as VP. She would help bring unity for the ticket. Anyway, thanks for the congratulations...we are going to win the General and kick dirty donnie out of the People's house. I feel it in my bones.

(14,319 posts)until I remembered that Russia is still manipulating our election, posing as progressive Americans because it costs them next to nothing and sows chaos all around.
Anytime I see an over-the-top emotional reaction or bad take online, I remember what Russias doing and why. Im sure thats what were seeing here. Unfortunately some gullible Americans take the bait. (on edit: Not you, BG.)

I don't really have an issue with however she goes. Neutral is probably best at defusing. Sanders would be somewhat expected. Biden would help the momentum and unity now and down the road.

Warren - 96.56%
Gillibrand - 96.38%
Brown - 95.85%
Sanders - 95.18%
If Harris as the VP pick didn't pacify many of Sanders' supporters then those are the ones who are the Bernie cultists and not true progressives so nothing short of BS himself on the top of the ticket would satisfy them anyway.
I do like Sherrod Brown an awful lot, though...and it sure would be nice to turn Ohio blue. Lots of great options...nice problem for Joe to have trying to pick a running mate.

(86,673 posts)matters, in my reckoning, is Biden. He has a fair enough record in his voting history. I've been around for a while, I have been voting for decades and I pay attention. I know who Joe Biden is and I know who Bernie Sanders is and have for quite some time, they are both humane and compassionate in their beliefs.
Biden has accomplished quite a bit for the people over the years and he learns from mistakes and takes/seeks sound advice. I want that in my president. I have no desire to see Bernie become president because I don't feel comfortable with his world view. And he has been insulting me, as a Democrat, for some time and I take offense to that. He was never on my list of preferences.
Considering the situation the country is in at present, I have no intention of letting my personal preferences get in the way of what must be done. It' s kind of like being in combat for real; you have to make decisions, choices and take actions you wouldn't under normal circumstances. And you do them because the alternative is great loss that is unacceptable.
Times like these require us to drop our ice cream and start rowing the damn boat before we go over the waterfall. I have an oar in my hand and I'm rowing hard as I can, I hope everybody else does too.

One is being supported by the National Organization for Women and one is being opposed.
One repeated an anti-choice talking point, because he wasn't aware that it was one.
One tells gets a "half-true" rating on their statements about their voting record on the Hyde Amendment.
One candidate said that female candidates are prone to telling people that being a woman is reason "enough" to vote for them.
One candidate stated that he supported family leave because "when mother has a baby, she should stay home with that baby."

(18,402 posts)And that is because she is in a delicate position with respect to both her supporters and the party.
First, I believe many of her supporters are those who backed her M4A and free tuition plans but who were outdone on that score by the Bernie supporters. They might be averse to a more moderate candidate, but also to the hard-core tactics of the Bernie camp. Others really wanted to support a woman; and I suspect more of them might accede to Biden.
As for the party: Warren is not a lone wolf like Sanders, an independent. She's placed herself squarely within the apparatus of the Democratic Party structure. So while she wants to push change, she is smart enough to know that she must do that within party parameters.
And then there is the delicate position of her disappointing showing in her home state. Maybe it's meaningless, and confined solely to presidential considerations. But she needs to focus on her MA constituents' wishes and desires first.

(945 posts)If she endorses Bernie, her supporters will feel let down after the way the Bernie?/Russia brigade treated her on SM. She is more aligned with his policies but has pretty much admitted they are unachievable without significant compromise.
If she endorses Biden, the Bernie brigade will turn on her and possibly try to primary her in 2024. In super-liberal MA that is a big threat. She knows that she is not getting a cabinet position because the democrats cannot afford to be 1 down in the Senate.
Her safest bet is to remain neutral and endorse the nominee once he emerges.

(12,165 posts)of her endorsing him.
Warren played a critical role in the Obama administration by forming the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I think people are hungry for a return to a drama-free politics like from the Obama era. She was part of that.
Having Warren endorse Biden would be like getting the band back together. She and Biden differ on many policies but they also have some goals in common, like rewarding teachers and prioritizing pre-k and childcare.
She is also a pragmatist and not a doctrinaire socialist revolutionary. I dont see her endorsing Bernie under any scenario.
