Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
CNN's Harry Enten: Why Warren supporters will split between Biden and Sanders
https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/06/politics/warren-supporters-analysis/index.htmlOn Super Tuesday, Biden and Warren did better among self-described Democrats than they did among independents. Biden got 41% among Democrats and 26% among independents. Warren went from 14% with Democrats to 11% with independents.
Sanders, on the other hand, showed the opposite pattern. His support jumped from 25% with Democrats to 34% with independents.
Another issue for Sanders winning over Warren's voters is their demographics. Warren's best group throughout this campaign has been white women with a college degree. Across the Super Tuesday contests, she earned 25% of their vote. That's about double the vote she earned overall and 10 points more than women overall.
One of Sanders' worst groups this campaign has been white women with college degrees. He came in third with a mere 20% among them on Super Tuesday.
Biden won them with 32% on Super Tuesday. That follows him winning them during his wildly successful South Carolina endeavor. Biden took them with 40%. Like on Super Tuesday, Sanders came in third with 13%.

Enten goes on to point out that a Warren endorsement of Biden would help coaelsce the party around him, while her endorsing Sanders would make for a longer primary race.

(43,311 posts)1. I think EW will hold her endorsement a while
Like the Mayors (almost lost in the shuffle is that two of them were in the race), she wants to defeat Trump. She always says it with a lower pitch voice and a finality to it. Not 'beat Trump' but 'defeat Trump', like it's a heavy burden, a must-do, a most difficult task. EW is gold!

...her comments about Bernie supporters, their vitriol and his willingness (or unwillingness) to take a strong stand against it sure make it seem like endorsing Sanders will be a stretch for her. When asked if she every talked directly to Bernie about it, she said something like (paraphrase) "yes...but it was a short conversation".
So we'll see but her tone was one that she usually only reserves for big banks screwing customers.

Not excited about Biden but I think that Bernie is toxic. So I guess it'll have to be the former.
