Should Bernie Choose a Running Mate Before the Primaries Are Over?

Why not choose Warren now as a running mate? ...just for full transparency...

I think both are great and would really energize the base.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

A Monday endorsement runs a greater risk of getting swamped by an unexpected event in the evening, and it would have less time to reach all potential voters.

Just watched your video of Nina accusing other candidates of using Obama as a "prop"...including Biden! It usually takes a lot to make my jaw hit the floor but that did it.

When Obama chose Biden to be his running mate with his wealth of experience especially in foreign policy Joe instantly gave some cred to a young and inexperienced presidential candidate that more than a few people had reservations about. Joe helped Obama to win the election and helped him throughout his 8 years in office. Joe was as loyal to Barack as anybody else in his administration and it's been said that Obama returned the affection.

But I do know one candidate who has recently started using Obama as a "prop" and who did not display the loyalty that Joe did during Obama's 8 years...

Allocation of delegates

Biden will get more NET delegates in Mississippi than Sanders did in Vermont.

Biden is likely to get more delegates in Florida than Sanders will get in CA ( 70% in Florida versus 34% in CA)

Also remember Sanders stating that plurality leader should be the nominee? Of course that was when he thought he would have the plurality in a 5 way race.

There is no reasonable scenario where Sanders catches Biden but it will become official Tuesday.

picking a respected moderate would be the bold thing to do.

Sanders would hate doing it, but he needs to bring in voters from outside his 25% to 35% ceiling. In politics you have to do things you don't like to get things you do.

Kamal Harris would be a major coup. So would Stacy Abrams.

Regardless whether it's true, many would look at Sanders age and think the VP might get to top the ticket in 4 years. That might make a Sanders ticket more palatable to a moderate on the fence.

It's worth a shot.

Even though the two of them had a bit of a kerfuffle during the Iowa debate, they really are close politically. They would make a good team, an exciting team even.

My only concern is that they are both from the same part of the country. That work against the geographical diversity theory that some people think is important.

sanders message does NOT resonate with the democratic base that DOES vote. Same in 2016 and more so in 2020

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Two 70+ White New England leftwing candidates?

AS for "the base", I think they've decided on a candidate?

Just to give his dying campaign some fuel.

Should he? No. The race is already over.

It will be seen as presumptuous and a political trick. It could become laughable.

Sen. Warren will never agree to be Bernie's running mate before the nomination. She is one of the smartest persons we have and will not commit such a grave error.

If he nominates her and she refuses.....

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

66. Warren will endorse Biden. Why waste her endorsement on someone who can't win?

She is not going to join Bernie's team. Bernie will not be the Democratic nominee, I am certain.

Now, if Joe Biden asked her to be his VP choice, she'd say yes, no doubt, but that's not going to happen, either. Biden knows that he needs a younger woman as a running mate in 2020. Klobuchar or maybe Harris. Harris has been out for quite some time, though, so Klobuchar would be a better pick for him, as she is more recently in the news as a contender.

Still, I don't know who he'll choose. I'm not sure even he knows yet.
