Mayor Pete on Morning Joe today, answering question. He did very well except for the abortion

question.

Pete is pro-choice but I thought his defense of 3rd trimester abortions was incomplete. First, such abortions are extremely rare. They occur when there is a medical problem that threatens the life or health of the woman. My daughter was faced with a serious medical problem in her 3rd trimester. Fortunately, her pregnancy was far enough along to where a C section could be done and my grandson survive, health intact. It was nerve wracking for our family nonetheless.

I wish he had known someone who had had a 3rd trimester abortion and talked to her about her experience. I think it would have informed his discussion of the issue in a way that his audiences could readily understand.

Other than that, he was, as usual "adorable." Which, by the way, he discussed humorously with Mika. That brief discussion was a nice touch.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Third trimester abortions are a good thing because they save the life/health of the pregnant person. WhiskeyGrinder Apr 2019 #12

He explained it from the standpoint of who the people are who need to have the right to make these decisions and that does not include government bureaucrats.

on edit: Every time I see him, I love him more.

But it wasn't bad. He made the point that those abortions are not elective but took too long of a road to get there. He's getting asked a lot about his faith in the media and I think he's getting too accustomed to framing every issue through that lens.

And it did seem like he did pretty darn good. This man has a gift for speaking. I want to know his secret. I mostly bumble about like an idiot.

I especially liked his point that pregnancies that have advanced to the 3rd trimester are ones, where the Mother decided earlier that she wanted to give birth. But circumstances developed to complicate the Mother's health.

but it must be hard answering questions from JoeBlow and his fake southern accent. He'll do better the next time.

PB will have to get use to JoeBlow and MikaMeMeMe as they promote him daily like they did Trump during the last round.

As in the case of my daughter.

Planned Parenthood, for whom I worked, has great informative material that is both factual and compassionate. I wish he would contact them to have a "backgrounder" on this issue.

That said, he did a great job on Morning Joe today and I hope his is on Harris's ticket as VP (at this point, that is where I am).

Same way an appendectomy is a good thing, if we feel the need to put moral terms on surgical procedures.
