The Hill: Bernie Sanders announces first endorsements in South Carolina

Sanders announces first endorsements in South Carolina:

The endorsements came from seven black state representatives and were announced ahead of Sanders's speech to the state's Legislative Black Caucus later on Thursday. He was also endorsed by South Carolina AFL-CIO President Emeritus Donna DeWitt.

“We’re proud to have the endorsement of some of South Carolina’s most distinguished elected officials, labor, and faith leaders," said Sanders's South Carolina state director Kwadjo Campbell. "With their support, and the support of thousands of volunteers across the state, our campaign is building a grassroots movement that will fundamentally transform this country."

.................//snip

Among the lawmakers endorsing Sanders are Rep. Krystle Simmons (D), the first black woman to represent the low country region in the state House, and state Rep. Terry Alexander, a reverend who endorsed Sanders in 2016.

“Bernie Sanders is a champion for women's rights and has been rocking with middle class and minority communities since before he was popular. What he did back then matters just as much as it does now,” Simmons said in a statement.

Now, what was that about Bernie having problems with women and minorities?

That it was unfairly putting their thumbs on the scales? I'm sure there will be an excuse why it's ok now.

I agree that it is early to have endorsements. I was disappointed that many early endorsements for another candidate from California were galloping way too ahead. We need to hear the ideas of each candidate and then finally make our choices.

8. Nope, what was a bad thing was superdelegates being able to tip the result before the race started.

Now they don't vote in the first round, so the problem is mitigated, although they should still just be dissolved completely.

Only a BS supporter could think that a Superdelegate endorsing a candidate is "putting a thumb on the scales" and that a non-Superdelegate endorsing a candidate is not.

And Superdelegates will never be dissolved and they shouldn't be. If we can't get a clear winner in the first round, we need to have some order to be able to get to a winner quickly within a round or two after that ... and Superdelegates are the only way to ensure that. If we don't, we will rip the party apart and we can forget about winning the General Election that time around.

Only a BS supporter could think that one candidate winning the early states yet the media announcing them tied with their rival because of superdelegates is unfair? Ok then..

He's gaining serious plausibilty, if not a modicum of momentum. In his townhall Tuesday evening, his experience was evident. His successfully punching back against the hosts and Fox, I think, paid off.I do think it caused them to give him some respect and laitiude.

That said, he'll get my vote only in the general. I have a couple major issues with him, both of which have been disussed many on DU.

I've not landed on a candidate, but I have no doubt there is one to to my liking. There are five that seem to be jelling nicely for me.
