Democratic Primaries

Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
I have questions about Warren's student loan forgiveness position.
First, would the federal government pay lenders back the loans?
Second, if not, why would lenders continue to grant loans?
I do think college should, ideally, be free for everyone, so maybe this is where she's going. But in the meantime, chaos could ensue about already existing student loans.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(6,139 posts)1. what?
Our taxes to cover students loans for private schools? Seems like insanity.

(17,306 posts)3. Better to focus on interest-free student loans
That eases the burden on students and won't break the bank (or become a campaign promise unkept).
