responded as you quote is very telling, distancing himself from Obama while still claiming the legacy will be a difficult tightrope, imo.

...I am sure Obama would endorse him in a heartbeat, but given the nature of this election, it makes perfect sense to do it on his own.

I think an "implied but unspoken" endorsement from Obama will be in the air anyway. In terms of President and Vice President "team" relationships, they actually HAD one, and it was one of the best. Cheney took the ball and ran with it. Pence is a lickspittle who cringes in the background as Trump lays out his scorched earth pronouncements. Obama and Biden were actually a TEAM.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

at least that's how it looks to me. When Joe was getting hit with head-and-shoulders-gate, Barack turned up and made statement about civility and that was the end of that. So I get the feeling Barack is a phone call away when Joe needs him.

If I were to vote in a presidential

that he didn't want to interfere in the primary elections. I love Joe -- who doesn't? -- but President Obama did not want to be an undue influence on the primary process. Obama has always stressed that the American people are the locus of decision and change. President Obama does not want to endorse ANYONE until the Nominee has been determined -- all wishful thinking and fantasizing to the contrary. Once that Nominee has been chosen by the PEOPLE, Obama will undoubtedly endorse and strongly support him or her. But Joe Biden is fudging it if he implies that President Obama secretly supports him, but just doesn't want to be public about it. Obama's statement in March that he would not be endorsing any Democratic candidate in the primary should be taken at face value.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
