(81,267 posts)Joe Bidens likeables are probably higher than anybody elses.
Lots of our candidates are appealing and congenial and easy to like. But theres this intangible about Biden that looks to be pretty doggone ferocious. Theres a lot of the Everyman thing about him.
Theres a strong sense of The Common Man about him.
Theres an air of approachability and genuine warmth about him - like the fun uncle or jolly grandpa you actually looked forward to seeing every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
And authenticity. This is a guy who is not known for lying. Occasional buffoonery but very mild compared to what weve come to expect from our so-called Lyin King whos currently contaminating our White House.

(14,750 posts)So far I've given to joe and Elizabeth. I really like warren, just don't think she will get the nom. Mass primaries are on march 3rd in 2020, and I don't want to throw my vote away, which could help bernie; the one candidate I don't want to see get the nom.

(108,978 posts)which other candidates have been trying to avoid. Also, Comcast is against net neutrality. I hope that doesn't matter to Biden.
But hours after launching his campaign Thursday, Bidens first formal event wasnt at a union hall or factory. It was a Philadelphia fund-raiser with prominent executives from Comcast, Independence Blue Cross, and powerhouse law firms, all hosted in the West Mount Airy home of Comcast Executive Vice President David L. Cohen.
Guests were asked to contribute as much as $2,800, and snacked on Mediterranean charcuterie with sliced steak and other hors doeuvres as they assembled on Cohens back patio for Bidens 14-minute speech. More than 100 showed up.

(49,990 posts)The event, however, set up a sharp contrast with the blue-collar image the former vice president hopes to burnish his first campaign stop with workers will come Monday at a Pittsburgh union hall. It also created an immediate flashpoint with the faction of his partys voters that want to diminish the influence of the rich and powerful and with some of his Democratic rivals.

(6,007 posts)If you take money from the high rollers who are friends of yours, you listen to them. That has been the whole problem these last 40 years since Bill Clinton decided that it would be a good idea to take money from big money. And they all say they aren't influenced by it but the trajectory of the country has been all focused on giving that big money, more money and more power at OUR expense. That is the REAL WORLD effect of that legalized bribe.
