Joe Biden Tops Bernie Sanders' First-Day Fundraising Tally

Biden’s $6.3-million tally, however, came from a lot fewer donors than Sanders’ tally—and it included a high-dollar fundraiser held Thursday night.

“That’s more than any other presidential campaign so far,” boasted a note to supporters. The campaign said that 97 percent of online donations were under $200 and that the average online donation was $41. Additionally, they said that a total of 96,926 people contributed.

Biden’s overall figure is greater than the single-day totals from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), who previously held the top-two highest 24-hour fundraising totals. However, Biden’s tally came from significantly fewer donors than Sanders’ and included the high-dollar event.

Bernie crushes 2020 Democratic field in first-day money chase

The Vermont senator rakes in $5.9 million in the first 24 hours.

Sanders brought in more than $5.9 million from more than 220,000 donors in the 24 hours since he announced his presidential candidacy, according to his campaign. He easily eclipsed other announced 2020 candidates’ first-day fundraising figures — as well as his own in 2015, when he raked in more than $1.5 million online in the first 24 hours.

220000 - 96,926 = 123, 074 that's how many more Americans were willing to donate their money to Bernie over Joe and of course part of Joe's funding comes from that high dollar event.

Any Democratic primary candidate who refuses donations because they're too large doesn't have my support in the primary if my chosen candidate get knocked out.

how foolish. Trump can raise all he wants, from whomever he wants, have all the dark money he wants and our candidate is going to limited.

Proud to say that I helped to bring the average donation down. I couldn’t afford to give much, but wanted to add to the first-day tally.

He was my fourth candidate to donate to, so I’ll probably wait for the debates to narrow down the choices and set up a recurring donation (small as it may be).

And according to the NYT he was at a serious disadvantage when compared to O'Rourke and Sander. Even with the disadvantage he top the field.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/bernie-sanders-has-highest-first-day-fundraising-of-any-2020-candidate-2019-02-20

Many made multiple contribution on February 19. In fact, one person made 60 individual contributions on that day which maxed him out at the $2800 limit for the year. That's one way to keep the "number" of contributions up and the "average" contribution down.
