Let's preface this with "I will vote for whoever the dem nominee is" all day long...because I will...but I keep pairing them together in my head.
I love a Biden/Beto ticket.
I like a Biden/Buttigieg ticket...
but I think if the call were just left to me...

(2,113 posts)Texas.
He MUST be on the ticket because he can turn it blue and Republicans know that so they would be forced to spend a fortune and a massive amount of time on a state they have always taken for granted. The more money they spend defending all those rural areas of Texas the less they can spend on the rust belt states. Beto has a massive grassroots army in every county and Texas is ground zero for kidnapped kids in cages and the risk of border residents getting their property stolen via eminent domain to build a wall they don't even want.

(68,576 posts)feel comfortable with should they need to become president. We have to consider who can help the ticket. I don't think a woman can win the presidency which makes me very sad. But let's assume a woman could help the ticket. Stacy Abrams makes more sense. She could deliver Georgia. Beto could deliver Texas or how about Castro? A VP needs to deliver a state or balance the ticket in some way.

(9,696 posts)But Bidens actual choice (should he get the nom) will be anyones guess. If he's way ahead he will feel pretty freed up to pick who ever he wants.
I've heard a rumor that he's close to the Montana governor, who is a "financial conservative." In my opinion that choice would be a real disservice to democrats in general, women, and POC in particular. I like Biden, but I don't trust him to see very far beyond the standard 2 white guys on a ticket.
I think the Stacy Abrams thingy a few months ago was bait and nothing more.

(2,113 posts)and he's great on the things women care about. And as a woman I care more about beating Trump than the gender of who is nominated and chosen for VP. I just know Beto has to be on the ticket because with Russian interference, gerrymandering and dirty tricks Democrats NEED to make those jerks fight hard to win those 38 electoral votes...and if it goes blue...Trump automatically loses because he CANNOT win without Texas.

(10,828 posts)I think Biden/O'Rourke would be a fabulous choice and put Texas into play. That being said, there's a genuine yearning for a woman on the ticket after Hillary's near miss. Kamala Harris would be excellent; she's strong on so many fronts. The only downside I could imagine is that California is already in our pocket. I really like Stacey Abrams, too. As well as Liz Warren but I suspect there's too much distance and policy difference to make that a good match. A number of people have mentioned Amy Klobuchar who would bring her Midwest creds to the table.
It's still wa-ay early. But there certainly won't be a dearth of choices when these decisions are finally made.

WASHINGTON Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, facing fallout from a lawsuit that claims she fired an aide who said she was sexually assaulted by a supervisor at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, resigned on Wednesday as the foundations chairwoman.
At the same time, Ms. Jackson Lee, a Texas Democrat in her 13th term, also elected to step aside temporarily from an important House Judiciary subcommittee chairmanship.
The congresswoman made the decision to step aside from both roles as pressure was growing within her own party to account for the claims in a Jan. 11 lawsuit brought by a woman who worked in her congressional office and who said she was sexually assaulted by a Black Caucus Foundation supervisor. Ms. Jackson Lee has adamantly denied that she fired the woman for retribution after the woman indicated she wanted to pursue legal action.
Read the lawsuit.
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundations board had given Ms. Jackson Lee an ultimatum late last week after the claims became public: step down as chairwoman or face a vote of removal as soon as this week, according to an official familiar with the conversations who was not authorized to discuss them.
Jackson Lee again named 'meanest' Congress member

Over a 10-year span, more than 39 of the congresswoman's staff members have left. That's one of the highest staff-turnover rates on the Hill. Nine staffers left within two months, 25 within six months.
