Two officers fired their guns during the fatal encounter with Alex Pretti in Minneapolis over the weekend, according to an initial report to Congress from the Department of Homeland Security reviewed by CNN.

The report – from Customs and Border Protection’s initial investigation into the shooting of Pretti – says an officer yelled, “He’s got a gun” multiple times before two officers fired as agents struggled with him on the ground. - Aired on 01/27/2026.

1. To me, it looks like three agents fired at Alex Pretti.

The agent shooting first fired a round into Mr. Pretti's back. The round was fired as Mr. Pretti was rising from his knees, possibly with the help of another agent.

After Mr. Pretti was shot in the back and fell to the pavement (where he lay face up), two more agents fired fusillades at him.
