A housing crisis for an entire generation - Velshi - MS NOW

Urban economist Jenny Schuetz says America’s housing crisis is the result of years of underbuilding—especially in the places where opportunity is greatest—and it won’t be solved by federal talking points alone.

Real change, she argues, has to happen at the local level through reforms like zoning changes that make it easier to build more affordable housing. “This is about 24-year-olds not being able to move out of their parents' house and live independently, people not being able to buy their first home, essential workers not being able to live in the communities where they work,” she says. - Aired on 03/22/2026.
