Iran warns Trump to expect 'widespread consequences' as US blockade of Strait of Hormuz begins - The Independent

Donald Trump says a US military blockade of all Iranian ports and coastal areas has begun, while Iran responded by threatening ports belonging to American allies in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

The US military has warned vessels entering east of the Strait of Hormuz that they will be subject to “interception, diversion and capture”. This will apply to all vessel traffic, regardless of flag, according to a note sent from US Central Command.

Trump said he was still willing to engage with Iran, saying he had spoken to "the other side” and they wanted to make a deal, but added he will not come ​to ⁠any agreement that allows Tehran to ⁠have a nuclear weapon.

Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian told his French counterpart that “threatening the Strait of Hormuz will have widespread consequences for the world,” referring to Trump’s blockade.

“The US's excessive demands prevented reaching an agreement (at talks in Pakistan),” he said. "Iran will continue negotiations only within the framework of international law.” - 04/14/2026.

So Iran was blocking the Strait, right? Now the orange man with the blond squirl has sent our ships to block the Strait, right? So Iran was using it's oil to block the Strait and now they don't have to, right? Now we have to use our oil and our fleet to block the Strait, right? The orange man with the blond squirl on his head has already allowed Iran to make money by allowing the oil embargo to be lifted. Now Iran will save money by not having to block the Strait and, the US will foot the bill for Iran. So, trump won by loosing billions of OUR TAX MONEY to Iran.
