Terry Gross: "Fresh Air" Wouldn't Have Happened Without The Corporation For Public Broadcasting

The award-winning host of NPR's "Fresh Air," Terry Gross, tells Stephen that grants from the soon-to-be-shuttered Corporation for Public Broadcasting were vital to taking her show from a local program to the national treasure it is today. Stick around for more with Terry Gross and listen to new episodes of "Fresh Air" every weekday on NPR.

"I Wanted To Share A Piece Of Him" - Terry Gross On Sharing Her Husband's Work After His Death

Legendary radio host and interviewer Terry Gross talks to Stephen Colbert about grieving for her late husband, renowned jazz critic Francis Davis, and how she paid tribute to him by reading his writing on her radio show and playing some of his favorite songs. ... a lot of Colbert has turned into a book club kissy fest, though I will watch an occasional guest, we do always watch the monologue.

I can't believe I missed Terry Gross.

I thought of a little joke a few years ago --
A radio announcement:
"Juanito Perez, a poor goat herder in Andicto, Peru, died in his small home last Saturday. Terry interviewed Juanito in 1987, and we will replay that interview....."
The joke, of course, is that Terry seems to have interviewed EVERYONE!

Sorry for the poor joke, and thanks for posting that!

Thanks SO MUCH for allowing me to see two of my VERY FAVORITE PEOPLE together.

For many years I listened to Terry Gross on the way home from work. Made traffic 'disappear' and I simply rode home on her voice. I DO recall that Colbert was one of her FAVORITE guests, so it was great to SEE them together here.

P.S.- I don't believe I've EVER seen Colbert 'choke up' with emotion before. Very touching.
