Let's talk about Trump, mean girls, Canada, and NATO.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump, Mean Girls, Canada, and NATO.

While Trump tries desperately to claim some kind of win with this whole Greenland caper, he's showing that he's actually incredibly upset by the way things turned out and by Carney's speech. As you listen, ask yourself if these sound like the words of a man who is happy with NATO and about how his Greenland push turned out. Ask if he truly sounds unbothered and unworried about Canada asserting more influence.

Trump posted to social media, "Dear Prime Minister Carney, please let this letter serve to represent that the Board of Peace is withdrawing its invitation to you regarding Canada's joining what will be the most prestigious Board of Leaders ever assembled at any time. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Donald J. Trump.”

You can't sit with us. Nothing suggests the Board of Peace is going to be a real diplomatic endeavor, producing very real results quite like withdrawing an invitation because the country's leader wore sweatpants on Monday. Sorry, hurt your feelings by undercutting your message at Davos.

The irony is that before the first meeting of this board, Trump has already destroyed its credibility by being unable to control his emotions. Then, while he should be basking in his glorious 4D chess move that he says have brought about concepts of framework for a future deal, that totally isn't just a rehash of a treaty that's been on the books for about 75 years. He posted, "Maybe we should have put NATO to the test, invoked Article 5, and forced NATO to come here and protect our southern border from further invasions of illegal immigrants, thus freeing up large numbers of Border Patrol agents for other tasks.”

First, yeah, NATO isn't Twitter. I am fairly certain crossing a line without a permission slip doesn't qualify as an armed attack under the NATO treaty. Even if you call it an invasion, calling it an invasion sounds scary at home, but it isn't a trigger word for NATO. The word exists nowhere in the treaty. NATO's test occurred in September of 2001.

Does it sound like Trump is happy with his trip and how the Greenland framework of a deal turned out? Sounds like he's mad at NATO to me. Oh, by the way, for those still waiting for their DOGE checks, this magical framework he has you falling all over yourself to defend wasn't even written down. Thus far, there is exactly zero record of it and now Greenland's prime minister has said exactly what I said when the news broke.

The PM said, "Nobody else than Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark, have the mandate to make deals or agreements about Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark. The NATO Secretary General, which is who Trump talked to, doesn't have authority to negotiate sovereignty.”

I'm starting to wonder if Trump's team never informed him about the Greenland Defense Agreement and he thought he was getting a new deal only to find out it's almost as old as he is. Whatever the reason for his emotional outburst, one thing seems to be clear. Greenland, much like Fetch, isn't happening.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
