Let's talk about Spanberger and a Factcheck request.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Spanberger and a fact check request.

I'm just going to jump right into the question on this one. "I'm sure you and your team are currently eating Chinese food and going through Trump's lines and fact-checking them to put out a video tomorrow morning pointing out everything he got wrong. All the other outlets are doing it because the entire media is against him. I've been looking for one of the Democrat response from the White Witch. Not a single one. Maybe do something original.”

The White Witch is of course the name Republicans have given to Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger. Oh, and pizza. We were eating pizza last night, not Chinese food. But fair play, though. You want a fact check and you couldn't find one? Not even from Fox, huh? That might be what we call an indicator.

Okay, I'm going to hold her to a much higher standard than I did Trump. Partly because if I held Trump to this standard, the video would be longer than his speech. And partly because Governor Spanberger was in the information trade. If you don't know, she's ex CIA. And for those who asked what kind of CIA the last time we talked about her, the kind where you have a fake name.

Okay she said, "Since this president took office last year, his reckless trade policies have forced American families to pay more than $1,700 each in tariff costs." Needs context.

Okay, you can find sources that give this number. The Joint Economic Committee gives $1,700 as their estimate, but that's on the higher end of estimates. I'd say he took closer to a hundred bucks a month out of your pocket. So $1,200 per year, but $1,700 was a solid projection for 2026 until, you know, his tariffs got struck down because they were unlawful. We need whole new estimates now.

Then the governor said Trump continued to "make plans for war with Iran." False. I absolutely refuse to believe that man is involved in war planning or even concepts of war planning. Come on, governor. You know how this works. He'll get a menu of options that he probably won't read and he'll select one based on his mood. I don't call that planning. He was elected to lead, not read.

She said, "In November, I won my election by 15 points." False. She won by 15.4%. There you go. That's it. If you take away the jokes, you have one item that can be fully sourced, that she might have said in good faith because of the committee that it came from, but probably isn't right. Maybe there's a reason she wasn't subjected to endless fact checks. Out of curiosity, I went to Politifact and looked. Her entire time in politics, she has one actual fact check from 6 years ago over who was most commonly paid minimum wage.

If every outlet around the world puts their fact checkers on duty whenever a politician speaks, there's probably a reason.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.

She didn't give full context to the numbers the Joint Economic Committee numbers? Those numbers need to be revised? Those are the revised numbers, per the JEC report issued TODAY.

She doesn't "believe" that Trump is making war plans against Iran? So she's going with her feelings rather than fact-based reporting that indicates he's at least been talking about it with Hegseth and other criminals in the regime. But what does a rightwing rag like PBS know?

Spanberger rounded off the percentage she won her election? WTAF is wrong with Belle? There is NO material difference between 15% and 15.4%, and it just sounds like bitching for bitching's sake.

I normally like Belle's takes, but this is just dumb.
