Related: About this forumHumiliation: Trump's big secret gets exposed - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen
BTC: Donald Trump voted by mail in today's special election in Florida, but to be fair, how else could a president with his own plane possibly vote in person? This is just another day.
You may not know it, but today was election day in Donald Trump's home state of Florida. A special election was being held for a state house seat, and as a result, I can only assume that Donald Trump flew down to cast his ballot in person.
(cut to video from CNN)
Randi Kaye: We were able to confirm uh that President Donald Trump did vote by mail according to the Palm Beach County records.
(cut to studio)
BTC: But excuse me, this guy voted by mail.
(cut to video from Newsmax)
Trump: Mail-in voting is totally corrupt. Get that through your head.
(cut to video from Fox News)
Trump: It's impossible to have mail-in voting and have honest elections.
(cut to video from C-SPAN)
Trump: Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating. I call it mail-in cheating.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Mail-in cheating. You know, I've heard that when it comes to Donald Trump, the amount of cheating was so small, certain people aren't even sure if the mail was in (inset photo of Trump and Stormy Daniels displayed).
But Donald Trump's tiny penis aside, of all the times for him to vote in person, you would think it would be when he is in the midst of doing anything he can to get congressional Republicans to pass his SAVE America Act, Trump has specifically told Republicans not to make any deals on funding TSA workers or any part of DHS unless it's tied to that piece of legislation.
So, just for the simple PR of it all, you would think that the guy who is more than happy to fly down to the Sunshine State on a moment's notice to Gatsby it up for an evening would hop on his own plane and vote in person. So, Trump's decision to go postal hasn't exactly helped his case for the decimation of mail and voting nationwide. And according to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, there are other reasons that it might not happen.
(cut to video from Fox News)
John Thune: We do have states, in fact, there are a majority of states and a lot of uh Republican, red states, whatever you want to call them, who have a mail-in ballot option. And so, we want to ensure that whatever we do here enables them to continue for legitimate reasons to have mail-in ballots.
What we want to get rid of are the uh ballot harvesting, the drop-boxes, the unsolicited uh mailings that things like that that that I think can be used and can be are are potentially rife with fraud.
(cut to studio)
BTC: See, John Thune gets it. He knows that the red states in America have the good kind of mail-in voting. Wholesome, patriotic, the kind of mail-in voting you want to bring home to your folks. Whereas the blue states have sinister, corrupt, and fraudulent mail-in voting. Hell, even the dropboxes in blue states are nothing but trouble. But while Trump's current war with Iran may be the new hot thing, his war with mail-in voting has been raging for years.
(cut to video)
Trump: Look at what's happening with this mail-in voting. It's a disgrace. Absentee is good. Mail-in universal is very, very bad. But I I do say this, universal mail-in voting is going to be catastrophic. It's going to make our country a laughingstock all over the world.
(cut to studio)
BTC: And thank God that never happened. Just imagine how embarrassing it would be for the most powerful nation on earth to become the laughingstock of the world. I mean, that would have been a disaster.
And Trump isn't the only one painting mail-in ballots as America's one true enemy. Here's a member of his own DOJ.
(cut to video from Real Americas Voice)
Harmeet Dhillon: It's caused chaos now, and a lot of people feel uncertainty and a lack of confidence in the outcome of our elections because you see the results flip.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Uh, sorry, but the results don't flip. You see, as more votes come in, they get what many highly regarded mathematicians call counted. It's the same reason that when you order more food at a restaurant, your bill isn't flipping, it's just higher.
But besides mail-in voting being a very legal thing that America has done for decades, the question remains, can't we just be better?
(cut to video from Real Americas Voice)
Harmeet Dhillon: You know, the rest of the world we condemn for being not as efficient and as committed to Republican or democracy form of government as we are, the rest of the world has election results on election day itself. even countries that we consider to be not very um civilized.
(cut to studio)
BTC: And I think we can all agree that that should be the standard that America holds itself to. I mean, if Russia and North Korea can get their election results on the same day, surely America can mirror that exact type of efficient democracy.
And Donald Trump's war on our democracy isn't merely focused on mail-in ballots. This week, he and his party took their case to the Supreme Court.
(cut to video from CBS Morning News)
Ed OKeefe: Yesterday, the nation's highest court heard arguments in a dispute involving late arriving mail-in ballots. The Republican National Committee is challenging a Mississippi law that allows these votes to be counted within 5 days of election day.
(cut to video from CBS Morning News)
Mike Hurst: For 180 years, Ed, Congress has said election day in federal elections means election day. Not a grace period, not election period, not election week, not election month, election day means election day.
(cut to studio)
BTC: That's right. He's arguing that there is a strict definitive deadline on when something is supposed to occur and to ignore that would be tantamount to ignoring the will of the people and that is one of the most undemocratic things you could do.
(cut to video from ABC News)
Linsey Davis: The DOJ revealing it needs more time to review one million new documents potentially related to the Epstein case.
(cut to video from CBS News)
Reporter: There was a piece of legislation and it said that you need to disclose all of this information by December 19th. It will come as news to nobody that is now after December 19th and so the Department of Justice has really blown the deadline in this case.
(cut to video from CBS Morning News)
Reporter: Federal law required the DOJ to release its its records on Epstein by December 19th. But government lawyers told the judge this week that only 1% of those files have been reviewed and released.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Thank God the administration didn't release the Epstein files by mail. Then their actions could have really been corrupt.
Donald Trump's war on our democracy is nothing more than his desperate attempt to hold on to power and he hasn't exactly been shy about it.
(cut to video from Fox News)
Trump: The Democrats are thugs and I don't want to say that. It would be nice to everyone get along but it's a different country than it was years ago.
I don't know how people can vote for these people, you know. I see I see the midterms are close. I don't know what close means, but uh I don't know how people can vote for them.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Trump doesn't know what close is. Just ask this guy (photo of Eric displayed while Arms of the Angels plays in the background).
The reality is Donald Trump is waging a war on mail-in voting because he can't do what that thing that most other politicians do in an election year, run on his record. The man has absolutely nothing to campaign on. What can he possibly say to voters? He can't point to the cost of groceries, can't point to the cost of gas, can't point to the cost of health care, can't point to the amount of jobs that he's created, and he definitely can't point to the safety and security of our country right now meaning he's got nothing. He has created a solution in search of a problem.
Widespread voter fraud is the result of mail-in voting is as real as the contours of Kristi Noem's face. In fact, in Utah, Ruby Red Utah, they conducted a monthslong review of their voter rolls, examining over 2 million voter registrations and discovered that there was one non-citizens who was registered and that person didn't even vote, which honestly kind of feels like a missed opportunity. I mean, these days it's like getting put up on the jumbotron with somebody that you're not even having an affair with. Pretty lame, if you ask me.
And that's not the only study. Justin Levitt, a law professor at Loyola University and fellow at the Brennan Center, says that he found only 31 instances of impersonation fraud out of 1 billion ballots cast between 2000 and 2014. Those are insane odds. That means that there's a greater chance of someone being struck by lightning while being attacked by a shark than there is widespread impersonation fraud taking place in our elections.
Donald Trump's efforts are not about election integrity. They are the actions of a power- hungry autocrat desperately trying to cling to power by any means necessary. And every Republican who claims to be some diehard flag waving patriot who goes along with this man's push to upend our democracy is just as culpable as he is. As someone once said,
(cut to video)
Trump: Uh, I don't know how people can vote for them.
(cut to studio)
BTC: Exactly.
