Related: About this forumLet's talk about Trump canning Pam Bondi too, and more being on the way.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump canning Pam Bondi too, and more being on the way.
As we discussed earlier, the Trump administration reportedly pushed the Army's chief of staff, General George, out of his position. But that's not the only high-level departure. Former Attorney General Pam Bondi was also shown the door. Her being told she can't sit with us at the Trump table made her the shortest serving confirmed attorney general in more than half a century.
Trump posted to social media with a non-explanation, "Pam Bondi is a great American patriot and a loyal friend who faithfully served as my attorney general over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in crime across our country with murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam and she will be transitioning to a much-needed and important new job in the private sector to be announced at a date in the near future and our deputy attorney general and a very talented and respected legal mind Todd Blanche will step in to serve as acting attorney general. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President Donald J. Trump.
Much like with General George, we're left wondering what the final straw was or maybe she really did just get tired and head out, but the reporting indicates that Trump had grown unhappy with her performance, particularly in regards to the Epstein files and her pursuit of criminal cases that Trump believes should be made that are typically directed at his political enemies. That reporting predates her departure.
Some have suggested her departure is an attempt to avoid testifying about the Epstein files, which Trump is still desperately trying to put behind him. That perception wasn't helped by a spokesperson for the Chair of the Oversight Committee, James Comer, who said, "Since Pam Bondi is no longer attorney general, Chairman Comer will speak with Republican members and the Department of Justice about the status of the deposition subpoena and confer on next steps."
That statement led people to believe the whole thing is a ploy to avoid the testimony. If that's the move, it seems to have failed miserably. Republican Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina said that the subpoena still stands, adding, "I did it by name, not as the sitting attorney general."
Meanwhile, Democratic Representative Robert Garcia, who is on the Oversight Committee, said, "Oversight Democrats have been leading serious investigations into Bondi and Secretary Kristi Noem. If they think we are moving on because they were fired, they are gravely mistaken."
That deposition is scheduled to take place in less than two weeks. The rumor mill says that more departures may be on the way with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer reportedly on thin ice.
People actually leaving the administration is a change for Trump's second term. He's been framing them as promotions and putting them in irrelevant positions up till now. We'll see how the next couple of weeks play out and if the Dow goes back above 50,000.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
