Let's talk about Trump's praise in his social media post.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump's praise in his social media post.

Given the seriousness of his post about escalating in Iran, something got written off as Trump being weird and inappropriate rather than noticing it for the teachable moment it could be. Trump's Easter Day post was unique for clearly demonstrating that Trump's planned hits on civilian infrastructure are not due to military necessity, but due to his desire to use the hits as leverage in negotiation, although I'm sure you've already heard it. Here's the full post.

"Tuesday will be power plant day and bridge day, all wrapped up in one in Iran. There will be nothing like it. Open the expletive deleted strait. You crazy expletive deleted or you'll be living in hell. Just watch. Praise be to Allah, President Donald J. Trump.”

So, yes, the seeming admission of planned war crimes and the profanity got most of the coverage, but I want to point to the part where he says, "Praise be to Allah.”

First, just imagine the reaction from Trump's base if any other president skipped Easter services but posted praise be to Allah to social media.

Second, given the context of the rest of the post, this is wildly inappropriate.

Third, do you think he was saying it genuinely or trying to relate or trying to mock the people he believes are too dim to realize he's mocking them?

I personally don't think he was saying it genuinely. Don't believe he converted. I don't believe that Trump even knows what the shahada is. Likewise, I don't think he was trying to relate and find common ground with people he's threatening. He doesn't really have a history of trying to relate to well, anybody, much less people he's attacking.

That leaves the third option, him thinking it's cute to mock people he believes won't figure it out. Does he have a history of that? His base would say no. But maybe he does. Many of Trump's jokes aren't jokes. He recently told Vance that if he was successful getting a deal with Iran that he would take all the credit, but if Vance failed, Trump would make sure he got all the blame. It's a joke, but it's also not because that's how Trump works.

It's probably uncomfortable for the Republican base, but Trump's praise be to Allah might be similar to his I love the poorly educated statement or his I don't care about you, I just want your vote statement.

Imagine spending 10 years supporting somebody and slowly starting to realize they were mocking you the entire time?

Margorie Taylor Greene posted to social media saying, "Our president is not a Christian and his words and actions should not be supported by Christians."

She also said, "Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshiping the president and intervene in Trump's madness. I know all of you and him and he has gone insane and all of you are complicit.”

I mean, it's not like the guy would pretend to be Christian. I'm sure adopting the language and making nods as a joke is only for Islam. I'm sure that's somewhere in two Corinthians.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
