Let's talk about 2 weeks and Trump losing support over Iran.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump losing GOP support over Iran.

As Trump continues to flail about, making random demands and off-hand comments that escalate the situation while he desperately tries to find an off-ramp, Republican lawmakers are looking at distancing themselves hours before Trump's most recent deadline for Iran. With Republicans already clamoring for some kind of scenario where they can pretend like they didn't elect to start a fight without a plan to win, Trump began babbling and escalating the situation even more.

Senator John Curtis of Utah said, "Constitutional limits are in place to temper the president from unilateral authority. I support the president's actions taken in defense of American lives and interests. However, I will not support ongoing military action beyond a 60-day window without congressional approval.”

Cool story, Senator. You and other Republicans who are trying to distance themselves could have stopped this at any time, but instead voted against those resolutions.

Trump posted to social media, "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have complete and total regime change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen. Who knows? We will find out tonight. One of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end. God bless the great people of Iran.”

First, there was no regime change. That's just something he's making up and people are laughing at anybody ignorant enough to believe it. The Assembly of Experts chose the last Supreme Leader and the Assembly of Experts chose the current one. There was no regime change. The regime is still in power.

Because Trump doesn't listen to experts, he doesn't understand how his words are actually strengthening the government in Iran. Somebody might want to inform the stable genius that when you acknowledge that you don't want to invade while threatening their civilization, it rallies Iranians around the regime.

The US has invaded countries all around them, but won't invade them. He helped paint the regime as the only one that can stand the US down. Those woke cultural sensitivity classes about foreign countries could have told you this, but your 1980s action heroes didn't take those classes, so I guess it's not important.

In completely unrelated news, Trump's comments reportedly caused Iran to break direct contact with the United States. Though at time of recording, mediators are still working, Mr. Art of the Deal indeed. The entire military campaign is now focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The strait was open before Trump elected to launch Operation Epstein Fury. It was his failure to plan that allowed the closure to happen.

Meanwhile, the US has started striking Kharg Island long before the deadline. When one of Iran's big demands is some kind of mechanism to make sure the US follows any deal, I'm sure that action will go a long way to get them back to the table and get Trump the deal he wants.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
