Let's talk about Trump vs.... The Pope.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump versus the Pope.

You would think this was some kind of joke, but it's a Trump presidency. So, the idea of the president of the United States attacking the Pope on social media isn't really out of the realm of possibility, right? This is the world we live in. Okay, so what happened recently? Pope Leo the 14th said something during his Easter message that has apparently gotten under Trump's skin.

The Pope said, "Let us allow our hearts to be transformed by his immense love for us. Let those who have weapons lay them down. Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace. not a peace imposed by force but through dialogue, not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them.”

The Pope also recently said, “enough with the idolatry of self and money, enough with the display of force, enough with war. True strength is manifested in serving life.”

Well, seems like Trump took these messages personally. Not in the sense that they resonated with him, but it seems like he felt attacked because he posted a lengthy rant on social media that starts off with, "Pope Leo is weak on crime and terrible for foreign policy."

What does he think the Pope is a politician? Weak on crime, terrible for foreign policy. I don't even know what that means. He's the pope. Forgiveness is kind of a big part of his whole thing, you know, as a Christian. Later in his novella, Trump said, "I don't want a pope who criticizes the president of the United States because I'm doing exactly what I was elected in a landslide to do.”

Trump wasn't elected in a landslide. And my dude, I am pretty sure you're not Catholic. I don't think they care what you want. You would think that would be it. But then he went on to take credit for the result of the conclave.

"He wasn't on any list to be pope and was only put there by the church because he was an American and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn't in the White House, Leo wouldn't be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leo's weak on crime, weak on nuclear weapons does not sit well with me."

Trump's now taking credit for a papal election. That's at least new, but wait, there's more. "Leo should get his act together as pope, use common sense, stop catering to the radical left, and focus on being a great pope."

Ah, yes. The Catholic Church, known worldwide for its embrace of leftism.

The Pope responded by saying, “I will not shy away from announcing the message of the gospel and inviting all people to look for ways of building bridges of peace and reconciliation and looking for ways to avoid war anytime that's possible.” He then added, “I have no fear of the Trump administration.”

You would think that would be the end of this weird religious bent. But then late Sunday night, he posted. [image displayed]

Well, this I know we have some blind listeners so, I'll just go ahead and tell you it's an AI generated image of Trump in a white robe healing somebody in a hospital bed, but I actually put it on screen, which we rarely do, but it's that weird.

Remember recently I suggested his weird “praise be to Allah” post was him mocking the Islamic faith and that maybe he does the same thing to Christians but they don't realize it. Be honest. If your religious leader posted an image of themselves like this, what would you think of them?
