Murphy to Hegseth: You Are Not Willing to Defend Our Democracy - Senator Chris Murphy

WASHINGTON- U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations, on Wednesday questioned U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during a Defense Subcommittee hearing on Trump's proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget. Murphy challenged Hegseth on his readiness to deploy the military for Trump’s political benefit but not to defend the Capitol during January 6th. He also pushed Hegseth to explain why taxpayers are being asked to foot the bill to modify and upgrade the luxury jet the Qatari government gifted Trump for his personal use after his term ends. - 06/11/2025.
