(8,853 posts)I listened to 6 episodes when it came out and I got more "effective" ideas of controlling my grief than the therapist I paid a lot of money to.
I really owe my recovery to Anderson because our society doesn't discuss grief which, if you live long enough, will suffer through. After my baby brother died, I couldn't stop crying. He was 57 and I am 2 years older. He was the only sibling that gave me the time of day my whole life. I still tear up thinking about him.
Listening to Anderson's podcast (before they were videos), I was able to see that my thoughts were not unique. I was suffering grief for my long lost father that I had never been able to grieve for properly. He died in 1975 and I was a teen. His death traumatized me for the rest of my life as it did to my brother's. Thank you Anderson.

(245,381 posts)I lost my Dad long before I could handle it and light a new candle at the cemetery for him every week and tell him how I feel. I was the first born in my family and my Dad expected a lot of me. We didn't always get along, especially when I was in my teens, but I know he did the best job he knew how.
