With Breitbart Gone, What Becomes of His Empire?

The death Thursday of the combative online blogger and publisher leaves open the question of what will become of a thriving colony of conservative websites for which he was owner, prolific contributor and relentless salesman.

He used his websites to promote a hidden-camera video with actors posing as customers that led the downfall of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. He posted explicit photos of former Rep. Anthony Weiner that caused the New York congressman eventually to resign, but an edited video caused former U.S. Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod to resign over since-reversed perceptions she was a racist.

'Breakfast with the devil' story (Va. legislature gun story) "no portion of the story is verifiable"

She said one of her constituents, who is 82, awoke at 2 a.m. to the sound of someone breaking of a window at the funeral home where she lived. The woman, a sharpshooter, pulled a pistol and confronted the intruder as he was coming in the window, Crockett-Stark said.

"So she grabs him up. She puts the pistol under his chin. She said ‘do you want to eat breakfast with the devil?’" Crockett-Stark said.

Virginia Lawyers Weekly said in a Feb. 27 blog post that they had called around to legal professionals to see if anyone knew of the case, but no one had.

The weekly newspaper noted that Jack Harris, executive director of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, put a query on the group’s listserv to see if anybody had heard of the story.

The lack of detail, such as when or where the break-in happened and who was involved, leave us with nothing to submit to the Truth-O-Meter. We cannot prove or disprove anything the lawmaker said because no portion of the story is verifiable.

--thoroughly researched (read the article) No one has ever heard of this story let alone the accused suing the grandma.... COMPLETELY MADE UP --

(Virginia) Senate panel kills 'Tebow bill' - homeschoolers NOT allowed on public school sports teams

The Senate Education and Health Committee this morning voted down both the "Tebow bill" that would make it easier for homeschooled students to play public school sports, and a bill that would let school districts open before Labor Day without a waiver from the state Department of Education.

Gov. Bob McDonnell backed both measures.

House Bill 947, called the "Tebow Bill" after the Denver Broncos quarterback who was homeschooled, died for the year on an 8-7 vote in the panel. Sen. Harry B. Blevins, R-Chesapeake, a former public school principal and coach, cast the swing vote against the legislation.

Flight of the Conchords' Bret McKenzie takes home Oscar gold

With only two entrants, original song might not have been the most competitive category at last night's (2/26) 84th Annual Academy Awards, but Bret McKenzie made the most of it.

The singer/actor and one half of musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords took home the Oscar for his song "Man or Muppet" from "The Muppets," beating out the only other contender, "Real in Rio" from "Rio".

The New Zealander, who has also appeared in two of the three films of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and will also appear in "Rings" director Peter Jackson's upcoming "The Hobbit," thanked late Muppets creator Jim Henson for creating a "magical world". "It's a true honor to work in the shadows of such legends," he said.
