This Thanksgiving, I met someone who fled TO Nazi Germany.....

She lives in the same Senior Living center as my MIL. She was born in Lithuania and her family fled to Germany when the Russians invaded in 1940. Her father was dragooned by the German Government to translate for foreign doctors who had been moved in to Munich to serve the local population (the German doctors had been moved to the front to treat the soldiers). They ended up in the American zone after the war, and eventually emigrated to the USA.

War is complicated.

Prediction: New Hampshire still goes first

Michigan has a Primary. Governor Whitmer and the Democratic Legislature would be happy to move up the date. However, New Hampshire law requires the SoS to move the date to be at least 7 days before any other State's Primary (Iowa had a pass because they hold a Caucus). The Republican Governor and the Republican legislature will have no incentive to change the law for the sake of the Democrats.

I'll add that there will STILL be an Iowa Caucus (for Republicans only) before the NH Primary.

Folks: something to gear up for, and not get irate over...

Today's 11th Circuit ruling on the Mar-a-Lago will be appealed to the Supreme Court by Trump.

Clarence Thomas oversees the 11th Circuit.

He will issue a temporary stay, pending the Court's review.

It won't be "he's interfering to help trump". It's a process ruling.

The Supreme Court will evaluate this in short order and likely will uphold the 11th Circuit's ruling. Cannon is making the Court system look bad.

Michigan poised to replace Iowa as early Democratic presidential state

Politico

Michigan is poised to replace Iowa as an early Democratic presidential nominating state, upending the current primary lineup and breaking with a half-century of precedent.

President Joe Biden signaled to Michigan Democrats during his trip to the state this week that he’d bless their bid to hold their primary in the early-state window in the future, according to a senior Michigan Democrat.

Separately, White House aides informed state officials of their recommendation to the Democratic National Committee, according to senior party leaders. The DNC’s rules committee is meeting on Friday to discuss the issue.

Ye's deal to buy conservative social media app Parler is called off

Source: CNBC

Conservative social media company Parler said Thursday its deal to be bought by Ye has been called off.

The rapper, formerly known as Kanye West, agreed to buy the app in October for an undisclosed amount. Ye has made repeated and public antisemitic comments in recent months, and several business partnerships involving the musician have been terminated.

"The company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intent of sale of Parler," the app's parent company said in a statement to CNBC. "This decision was made in the interest of both parties in mid-November. Parler will continue to pursue future opportunities for growth and the evolution of the platform for our vibrant community."

Kanye West dares Elon Musk to ban him by handing Twitter account over to Nick Fuentes and Alex Jones

The rapper formerly known as Kanye West said on Thursday he plans to give Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and right-wing conspiracy monger Alex Jones the keys to his Twitter account, in protest against Elon Musk’s stance that he won’t let Jones back on the platform after a 2018 ban.

“I got a Twitter account and today I’m gonna have Nick and Alex tweet from my account,” Mr West, who now goes by Ye, said on Jones’s Infowars show, part of an antisemitic rant where he praised Hitler and attacked Jewish figures in Hollywood.

“I do find it a little bit hypocritical that Elon Musk said he was purchasing Twitter to create a free speech environment,” Mr Fuentes, West’s 2024 presidential campaign adviser, added.

“He says that free speech is the thing that’s going to save the West and our civilization, but yet he has taken exception to you Alex for some seemingly specific reason, maybe personal to him but certainly not principled.”

Senate rejects proposal to give rail workers seven days of paid sick leave

Source: The Hill

The Senate voted on Thursday to reject a proposal to give railway workers seven days of sick leave, a benefit that was left out of a labor deal brokered by the presidential emergency board between freight rail companies and unionized workers.

The proposal to give workers seven days of sick leave, which was championed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and other liberal Democrats, failed to pick up enough Republican support to overcome a 60-vote threshold set for adopting the measure.

It passed the House Wednesday with a narrow bipartisan majority, 221 to 207 with only three Republicans voting for it.

The votes in the Senate and House now give Democrats the ability to blame Republicans for imposing a labor deal on rail workers that includes little flexibility for taking time off work due to illness or doctors’ visits.
