You can't fix stupid...

But you can usually sell it a MAGA hat.

(Stolen from my FB page and felt it was too good not to share)

I'm depressed.

Looking at what the uber-wealthy have done to this country.

Looking at how our laws have morphed into protections for the rich.

Looking at how the fascists are undermining the minorities including those of orientations different than their own.

At how such a wide swath of Americans embrace such an evil man as Trump (I would have given details but they are too many to list and the readers her most likely know the details).

I'm afraid that capitalism has won the Game of Monopoly to the point that the board will be cleared and the game restarted or that the board will be simply cleared and a new game is started with an entirely new set of rules.

Strangest text from an Instacart driver: There's a lizard near your door. Be Careful

Accompanied with a photo of the long hall to my door from quite a bit away.

Note: I live in an area where the largest lizard might grow to 5" and eats flies.

Frederic Forrest, Actor in 'Apocalypse Now,' 'The Rose,' Dies at 86

Frederic Forrest, a character actor who had a memorable role in 1979’s “Apocalypse Now” and earned an Oscar nomination for “The Rose” in the same year, died Friday in Santa Monica. He was 86.

Forrest’s death was confirmed by his sister, Ginger Jackson. It was first reported by his “Rose” co-star Bette Midler, who paid tribute to the actor on Twitter.

“The great and beloved Frederic Forrest has died,” Midler wrote. “Thank you to all of his fans and friends for all their support these last few months. He was a remarkable actor, and a brilliant human being, and I was lucky to have him in my life. He was at peace.” /snip

Just got really impressed by a Lao film. The Long Walk on AMC+ and Sundance

Also on Roku channel and Tubi according to IMdb.

Time travel and ghosts in a very understated way, in a very original way.
Truly haunting.

Mixed feelings: I hated the idea of Moscow becoming a battlefield but I hate the idea of Wagner

returning to Ukraine and probably creating even more battlefields.

House Freedom Caucus weighs kicking out Marjorie Taylor Greene

Source: Axios

Members of the House Freedom Caucus discussed potentially ousting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from the conservative group during a closed-door meeting on Friday morning, three sources familiar with the conversation confirmed to Axios.

/Snip

Why it matters: The discussion comes in the wake of Greene taking aim at Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Co.) on the House floor, where Greene called the Colorado Republican a “nasty little b***h” after Boebert introduced competing impeachment resolutions.

/Snip

The intrigue: Conservative critics beyond Boebert have taken issue with Greene shifting from being one of leadership’s leading critics to a vocal ally of Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

/Snip

The big picture: While the HFC has fractured on certain issues, it still has played a sizable role in strong-arming leadership into moving legislation to the right and prioritizing their goals by using procedural tactics.

Putin's presidential plane was spotted leaving Moscow amid Wagner's uprising

Source: Insider

Russian President Vladimir Putin's plane took off from Moscow early Saturday morning, heading towards St. Petersburg before disappearing from flight tracking radar.

Putin's presidential plane left at 14:16 Moscow time, according to FlightRadar data retrieved by NEXTA. While it's not clear where the plane was headed, it disappeared from tracking systems near Tver, a major city north of Moscow.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied Putin had fled the city, saying he "is working at the Kremlin," according to The Independent and Ukrinform.

The news comes as Wagner forces appear to be descending on Moscow. On Friday, Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin rebelled against Russia's military leadership, accusing Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu of ordering an air strike on Wagner troops in Ukraine./snip

American Born Chinese on Disney+

Didn't expect to enjoy it that much but was pleasantly surprised. It's a YA series but sweet in places with a fun mythology to play with.

A nice respite from the doldrums.

What Do Conservatives Actually Like About Star Trek?

This rolled up on me this afternoon and though it's a bit dated I found it nicely said.
