One sunny day in January 2021 an old man crossed Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench, and walked up toward the White House.
He said to the Marine standing guard, "I would like to go in and meet with President Trump."
The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir, Trump is no longer president and no longer resides here."
The old man said, "Okay," and walked away.
The following day the same old man came to the White House the White House and said to the same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President Trump."
The Marine repeated, "Sir, I told you yesterday, Trump is no longer president and no longer resides here."
The man thanked him again and walked away.
On the third day, the old man returned to the White House and spoke to the very same Marine. "I would like to go in and meet with President Trump."
The Marine, understandably annoyed at this point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you've been here asking to speak to Trump and I've told you each time he's no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don't you get it?"
The old man looked at the Marine and said, "Oh, I understand perfectly. I just love hearing it."
The Marine snapped to attention and said, "See you tomorrow, sir."

Anyone else watching One Piece?
I wasn't expecting to be much of a fan but am pleasantly surprised. Fresh and original with likeable protagonists and fun antagonists.

I guess I was liberal before the nametag and they've been trying to kill us for a long time now.
We moved South in 61. I was 7. First question I remember from a neighborhood kid was "are you a yankee or a rebel?" I had to go ask my Mom because I had never heard either words before. She told me that we were from Missouri which was a neutral state. She also went on about the only differences between ourselves and the Black people was melanin.
Shortly after the news reported Dr. King had been shot. Then JFK, then Bobby...Then so many others that never made the National news. And Nam, Kent State...
Fuck. They even killed John Lennon.
The racists are rabid.
And have been for a long time.

Ever since he first learned about the strange meteor falling to Earth, astrophysicist Avi Loeb has been determined to discover whether it was indeed an extraterrestrial artifact that had crashed into the Pacific Ocean.
Now, the professor and theoretical astrophysicist at Harvard University says he and a team of scientists are one step closer to making that determination after they retrieved suspected remnants of the meteor in June off the coast of Papua New Guinea. On Tuesday, Loeb said in a media release that early analysis suggests that those small metallic objects actually are interstellar in origin.
The findings may not yet answer the question of whether the metallic spheres are artificial or natural in origin, but Loeb insists that the team is now confident that what they found is unmatched to any existing alloys in our solar system. /Snip

Black Montgomery families find swastikas, racial slurs painted on their homes, cars

At least five families who live in a predominantly Black Montgomery neighborhood woke up to racial slurs and swastikas spray-painted on the sides of their houses and vehicles Saturday morning.
Otis Ramos said he heard his dogs barking outside and went outside to investigate at about 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. Saturday. That's when Ramos, who is Black, saw a swastika and a racial slur spray-painted on his home and vehicle.
He would later learn that four other houses on Richardson Road, where he lives with his wife and children, also discovered racial epithets and swastikas on their houses and vehicles.
Ramos said that he has heard that there are even more neighbors who had their homes vandalized with slurs in other parts of his neighborhood, Dannelly Pines.
