Cuomo: Violent Protests Allow Trump 'To Tweet About Looting Rather Than Murder By A Police Officer'

"Violence never works, how many protests have we had? How many nights have we gone through like last night? How many times have we burned down our own businesses, our own neighborhoods, and our own communities. Burning down your own house never works and never makes sense," says New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. "It dishonors Mr. Floyd's death. Mr. Floyd was not violent. Mr. Floyd was compliant."

"When you are violent it creates a scapegoat to shift the blame. It allows the president of the United States to tweet about looting rather than about murder by a police officer."

Protests in Albany turn violent, businesses damaged

ALBANY -- Earlier peaceful protests quickly escalated to violent protests Saturday night in the city's south end.

This, just days after the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died in Minneapolis police custody. There is outrage after a video surfaced showing Officer Derek Chauvin, now facing third degree murder and manslaughter charges, pinning Floyd to the ground with a knee to his neck for nearly nine minutes.

Fires were set in Albany, looting occurred, and police cars were smashed Saturday night. Numerous videos show violence across the city overnight.

At the Albany County Board of Elections building on South Pearl Street, windows were broken. Police warned people to stay away from the area overnight.

A police presence was also seen outside the Department of Probation. This building also has broken windows. The windows of many businesses on South Pearl Street were smashed.

There was also looting throughout these protests at businesses downtown off Central Avenue.

Angela Merkel Practices Social Distancing by Staying Four Thousand Miles Away from Trump

BERLIN (The Borowitz Report)—In an effort to practice social distancing, the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, is staying four thousand miles away from Donald Trump, Merkel has confirmed.

Merkel’s decision to decline Trump’s invitation to a possible meeting of the G-7 in Washington was based “entirely on science,” Merkel told reporters.

“Epidemiologists have recommended that, in order to be safe, one should social-distance by six feet,” she said. “It only stands to reason that I will be even safer if I social-distance by twenty-one million feet.”

Merkel said that she was taking the extremely cautious social-distancing measures regarding Trump because of “the danger posed by being in proximity to someone who speaks so loudly and incessantly.”

“His mouth is like a firehose of droplets,” she said, shuddering.

Asked whether she would reconsider a White House visit if Trump agreed to wear a mask, she said, “Donald Trump with a mask is clearly a big improvement over Donald Trump without a mask, but no.”

The German leader added that she could envision making a trip to the Oval Office if “events on the ground change,” most likely in January of 2021.

It's tough adopting older dogs since you know it's not a whole lifetime

But I just can't seem to help it, since I've found dogs who need me. My eldest pup was my Barney who they said was 10 or 11 when he found me. He was a cocker like the dog I grew up with, but he'd been a stud dog at a "commercial kennel" until he got too old and they said he needed "a special home" since he had never lived with people and wasn't housebroken. But his foster mom, a wonderful woman who did an amazing job with him, kept in touch and still visited a few times. He was just the best dog, beautiful with the best temperament and I had him for 8 precious years. And I'm counting on having Jack at least as long.
