Selling a piece of fine jewelry. I don't know how to do it.

I'm selling it because I need the cash, which absolutely sucks.

I have no idea what to list it for. I'd ask jewelers, but wouldn't they charge me an appraisal fee? What if I told them, "I just need an approximate idea of a fair price to ask." Would a jeweler buy it?

I could sell it for the gold, but I'm pretty sure the piece is worth a lot more.

This is a pair of what would become my favorite earrings, although I'd wear them rarely. The earrings are 14k gold, with four small sapphires arranged in a vertical row in each one. I know they'd be more valuable with better (for lack of a better word) gold. I'd post a picture but my phone is dead and the cloud hates me.

Any ideas? Any questions?

Thanks.

Anyone had a disability claim partially approved

approved because of ADD?

G-D ADD hampers my ability to work. Doesn't it seem that would be a prime reason to approve a disability claim?

I hope to see some replies.

Can you help with a math (and logic?) problem, please?

Hi. Thanks for helping. It's all about money. When is it not?

I have two PayPal accounts.

I start with pennies in my bank account. To PayPal acct #1, my nephew sends me a $500 loan. The transfer of the money to my bank account won't go. I want to return it so Nephew can send it to my other PayPal account (acct #2).

In acct #1, I look for a place that says "return," and I can't find one. So I refund it. Because it's a refund, the money goes back to him out of my bank account, not out of PayPal acct #1. Obviously, I didn't realize that this would happen. Now my bank account is -$500.

Nephew re-sends the loan to PayPal acct #2, this time $485 as the transaction costs him $15. I go to PayPal acct #2 to transfer the money to my bank account, and that transfer works.

My bank account is now -$15. It would be $500 if my transfer from acct #1 had worked.

Am I right: do I still have $500 cash in acct #1 that's mine? It sure feels like it; it sure looks like it: the activity page in acct #1 shows that the money is there.

I've traded messages with no less than four people at PayPal, and none of them could help. One did say, "no, there's no money there, because in trans #so-and-so you did transfer funds into your bank account." This is one of the things that makes me doubt that I'm thinking of this correctly.

Help? (I can't brain today. I have the dumb.)

(I have worked on this post for an hour and a half. Don'tcha just love ADD?)

What gift should I give?

Hi, all! I hope everyone is well.

I've known Carol for thirty years. I met her the day I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. She was an aide on my ward. She took me under her wing and helped me get through my terror at being there (and my terror at the reasons I was there). About a year later, I became her first psychotherapy client.

She saved my life, quite literally. I was suicidal for many years. She guided me through a rocky recovery and, together with my baby nephew, kept me from killing myself.

I saw Carol for 13 years, then moved to the east coast. I came home about three months ago, and am seeing Carol again. It's very different; it's like talking over my life - and even hers - with an old, sweet friend.

September 30 will be the 30th anniversary of my admission to that hospital, the anniversary of the day I met Carol. You may think I'm being silly, sappy, ridiculous, whatever. This is important. I can't overemphasize how important she is to me.

I want to get her a special gift, but I honestly have no idea what to give her. Can you offer suggestions? Thanks.

desperately seeking mustard

We're having a party on the 18th and we'll be serving bratwurst. I want to serve some good German mustard. I had some once that sent me over the moon, but I don't remember the brand name, dammit.

There's this place called Old World in Huntington Beach. It's sort of a mini faux German town. The woman I talked to there said a few of the brand names they sell Haendlmaier, Kuehne, Inglehoffer, Loewensenf, Thomy, Hengstenberg, Landsberg, Alstertor and Hela. Have you heard of any of these? How about any other brand names?

Thanks!

"Old World Huntington Beach offers unique “Old World European” dining, shopping, entertainment and special event experiences to Southern California locals and tourists alike."

Flummoxed and Desperate

1. leather furniture

2. the soft padding inside

3. the porous fabric that holds these things together

4. cat urine. fucking cat urine

I need a service that can clean every part of these pieces of furniture so that the odor of cat urine is eradicated. It seems that no such service exists.

Have you ever heard of such a business? In Orange County, CA? That picks up and delivers?

Am I delusional?

must find placement for seven cats - please offer links

I'm in Maryland, but will travel.

Long story short, we're moving to California. We have nine cats* and can only take two. We're taking the two with special needs.

If you know of any foster organizations, rescues for cats, no-kill shelters, or any other such organizations that I might contact, please post the links here.

Of course, if you are willing to offer a home to one or more healthy senior cats (ages eight to 14), I'm happy to discuss it with you.

Thanks very much.

* They have plenty of room, are well-fed, well-cared-for, enriched, healthy, and happy.
