Just look at Israel – an American ally whose security is far too important to gamble with, especially when it finds itself under siege.

This March, a 28-year-old West Point graduate named Taylor Force went on a school trip to Israel’s Jaffa port, where he was murdered by a Palestinian terrorist. Hillary also believes that no matter how hard it may be, establishing a two-state solution is essential to Israel’s long term security. As the last American official to convene face-to-face peace talks between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Abbas, she knows how hard this will be but is especially equipped to get this done. And as President, she will continue working toward the goal of providing Israelis with a secure homeland for the Jewish people and allowing Palestinians to peacefully govern themselves in their own state.

Elizabeth Warren slams 'small, insecure' Donald Trump in most fiery takedown yet

In a speech at the Center for Popular Democracy's annual gala in Washington, Warren slammed the presumptive Republican presidential nominee over comments from 2006, when Trump said he was "excited" for a potential market downturn so he could buy real estate at a lower cost.

"What kind of a man roots for people to get thrown out of their house?" the Democratic senator from Massachusetts said. "What kind of a man roots for people to get thrown out of their jobs?"

She continued:

To root for people to lose their pensions, to root for two little girls in Clark County Nevada to end up living out of a van — what kind of a man does that? I'll tell you exactly what kind of a man does that. It's a man who cares only about himself. A small, insecure money-grubber who doesn't care who gets hurt as long as he makes a profit.

Warren also criticized Trump's promise to repeal the financial regulations implemented under the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform bill, questioning whether the real-estate magnate "could even name three things about Dodd-Frank."

"Donald Trump is worried about poor little Wall Street," Warren said. "Let me find the world's smallest violin to play a sad, sad, song."

Knowing it’s lost electorally, the Bernie Sanders campaign is now pushing for a superdelegate coup, one that would discard the will of the Democratic primary electorate in favor of an unearned coronation. Whether willfully or not, such a strategy is not just an affront to basic democratic principles, it would also serve to disenfranchise the growth demographics powering the modern Democratic Party.

“We can argue about the merits of having superdelegates, but we do have them,” said Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver. “And if their role is just to rubber-stamp the pledged delegate count, then they really aren’t needed, right? So they’re supposed to exercise independent judgment about who they think can lead the party forward to victory.”

That is quite the turnaround from a few months ago, when Sanders and his surrogates were railing against the superdelegate system as an undemocratic affront to the will of the voters. And they’d be right — if, that is, those superdelegates had shown any willingness to subvert the will of the voters, something they didn’t do in 2008 when the insurgent Barack Obama won the nomination and certainly won’t do this year. The nominating process is undeniably in need of reform, but that doesn’t justify Sanders’s hypocrisy in siding with superdelegates over his newly adopted party’s voters.

But aside from the merits, let’s examine what such a superdelegate coup would mean.

First of all, it really was a very impressive boom, and in a way it’s odd that Democrats don’t talk about it more. After all, Republicans constantly invoke the miracles of Saint Reagan to justify their faith in supply-side economics. Yet the Clinton-era expansion surpassed the Reagan economy in every dimension. Mr. Clinton not only presided over more job creation and faster economic growth, his time in office was also marked by something notably lacking in the Reagan era: a significant rise in the real wages of ordinary workers.
But back to the boom: What was Mr. Clinton’s role? Actually, it was fairly limited, since he didn’t cause the technology takeoff. On the other hand, his policies obviously didn’t get in the way of prosperity.


One big lesson of the Clinton boom, then, is that the conclusion conservatives want you to draw from their incessant Reaganolatry — that lavishing tax cuts on the rich is the key to prosperity, and that any rise in top tax rates will bring retribution from the invisible hand — is utterly false. Mrs. Clinton is currently proposing roughly a trillion dollars in additional taxes on the top 1 percent, to pay for new programs. If she takes office, and tries to implement that policy, the usual suspects will issue the usual dire warnings, but there is absolutely no reason to believe that her agenda would hurt the economy.

The other big lesson from the Clinton I boom is that while there are many ways policy makers can and should try to raise wages, the single most important thing policy can do to help workers is aim for full employment.
