Political Ad Shows Doctor Asking Texas Gov. Greg Abbott If He'll Allow An Abortion

This is a powerful ad

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s attempts to curtail abortion rights in his state has made him the target of a scathing new political ad.

The ad, released Monday by Mothers Against Greg Abbott PAC, shows a doctor explaining to an expectant couple that their new child will be born with a “catastrophic brain abnormality” and will only be able to survive a few hours after birth.

“If she is to survive, she will live only a matter of hours after birth. During that time, she will experience a multitude of seizures and ultimately aspirate on her own bodily fluids. She will suffer,” the doctor explains. “A decision will need to be made on termination. I wish I could tell you what to do.”

The crying mother then starts to consider the available options only to have the doctor tell her that “here is only one person who can make this choice, and that person is Greg.”

The father wonders, understandably, “who the f**k is Greg?"

Alex Jones' 'medical issues' may prevent him from attending 'parts of' Sandy Hook trial in Texas

Jones may be faking another "medical condition"

Alex Jones’ attorney says the Infowars host may not be in the courthouse much during his trial in Texas to determine how much he owes in defamation damages to the parents of a slain Sandy Hook boy.

“Alex, you may have noticed is not here, like the plaintiffs. He may not be here through parts of the trial,” said F. Andino Reynal, attorney for Jones, during jury selection on Monday.

Jones, Reynal said, “has medical issues” that prevent him from being present and that he “has no obligation to be here.”

In the spring, Jones was issued escalating $25,000 daily fines by a Connecticut judge for failing to show up for court-ordered depositions in March. His attorneys at the time provided a doctor’s note describing “acute medical issues that were time-sensitive and potentially serious.”

In a message on Infowars, Jones blamed stress and the cardiovascular effects of his COVID-19 infection last year for why he couldn’t make the depositions. He eventually came to Connecticut for his deposition.

Alex Jones' Sandy Hook defamation trial set to finally begin in Texas

I am glad that this trial is getting some national coverage

AUSTIN, Texas — Jury selection is set for Monday in a trial that will determine for the first time how much Infowars host Alex Jones must pay Sandy Hook Elementary School parents for falsely telling his audience that the deadliest classroom shooting in U.S. history was a hoax.

The trial in Austin, Texas — where the conspiracy theorist lives and broadcasts his show — follows months of delays. Jones has racked up fines for ignoring court orders and he put Infowars into bankruptcy protection just before the trial was originally set to start in April.

At stake for Jones is another potentially major financial blow that could put his constellation of conspiracy peddling businesses into deeper jeopardy. He has already been banned from YouTube, Facebook and Spotify over violating hate-speech policies.

The trial involving the parents of two Sandy Hook families is only the start for Jones; damages have yet to be awarded in separate defamation cases for other families of the 2012 massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

Opinion Texan politicians won't say this, but solar is saving their tushies right now

The Texas grid needs all of this power and more

Solar power is saving Texan tushies right now. German ones, too. And perhaps, one day, tushies ’round the world.

The heat waves searing the United States and Europe have generated huge demand for energy, as air conditioners work overtime. Texas, for instance, has busted records for energy demand at least 11 times this summer. Europe is simultaneously attempting to wean itself off Russian-produced natural gas, increasing demand for other fuel sources.

That’s because there has been an enormous ramp-up in solar investment in recent years. This has been driven by multiple factors, including government incentives, customer demand and especially technological advancements that have made solar astonishingly cheap. Sun-drenched Texas — not exactly known for its bleeding-heart liberals — has nearly triple the solar capacity this summer than it had last summer.

This has turned out to be a lifesaving investment. The additional power provided by newly installed solar has (so far) probably prevented rolling blackouts this summer.
