...Trump said Sunday that he had contacted two Senate Republicans, Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (N.C.) and Judiciary Chairman Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), ahead of his announcement in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House. He called Burr “a great gentleman” and Graham “a very strong hawk” who “agrees with what we’re doing now.”

Asked whether he had informed Pelosi, Trump replied, “No, I didn’t. I didn’t do that. I wanted to make sure this kept secret. I don’t want to have men lost, and women. I don’t want to have people lost.”

At another point in his remarks, Trump said he was “going to notify [congressional leaders] last night, but we decided not to do that, because Washington leaks like I’ve never seen before.”

“Washington is a leaking machine,” he said. “And I told my people, we will not notify them until our great people are out — not just in, but out. I don’t want to have them greeted with firepower like you wouldn’t believe.”

In response, Russian defence ministry says it doubts whether the operation to kill al-Baghdadi even took place, there were no such strikes in Idlib "de-escalation zone" yesterday and it knows nothing about Russia cooperating with an American fly-over...

A lot of emphasis on Russia’s role through out Trump’s description of the al-Baghdadi mission. Trump thanked Russia first. Went on to say “Russia was great, Russia let us fly through space. Russia hates ISIS as much as us.”

Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, told House committees last week that efforts by President Trump and his allies to press Kyiv to open investigations in exchange for a White House meeting with Ukraine’s president amounted to a quid pro quo, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Trump has denied that his decision to hold up aid was related to his push for investigations, repeatedly declaring there was “no quid pro quo.” Asked by a lawmaker whether that arrangement was a quid pro quo, Sondland cautioned that he wasn’t a lawyer but said he believed the answer was yes.

“The bank’s being robbed!” You take your phone, and you tweet at the NYPD that there’s a bank robbery in progress. (That’s hearsay, by the way.) The cops come, they interview the witnesses, they get video of the crime, and they even get confessions from the robbers.

They don’t talk to you. And they don’t need to. They have all the evidence they need.

For the same reason, Congress doesn’t need to talk to the whistleblower. They have many other witnesses. They have the memo of your call. And you, Rudy, and Mulvaney have all confessed.
