Has Ron DeSantis cracked the code to lead the post-Trump GOP?

It’s all going according to plan.

In fact, more than any other Republican, DeSantis may have cracked the code of how to position oneself to lead the GOP in a new era that is simultaneously post-Donald Trump and defined by Trumpism.

Any politician can be an Internet troll concerned with nothing so much as Owning the Libs, and many in DeSantis’s party think that’s their most fruitful path to success. But to really capture the hearts of the party base, you have to show your willingness to do actual harm to people’s lives as you wage war against the other side. And that’s where DeSantis is excelling.

Apparently, Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer thinks Karl Marx wrote Mein Kampf.

This laughable error came out during a discussion on education:

"I remember 20 years old going to Trier, Germany and trying to find the home of Karl Marx cuz, y'know, 1848 -- he wrote Mein Kampf. I want to know what it's all about."

ELECTIONS MATTER.

For Trump infrastructure was a punchline...For Biden it's the law.

KRUGMAN: The paranoid, anti-rational streak in American politics isn't as bad as we thought;

it’s much, much worse.

Before the right embraced Covid denial, there was climate denial. Many of the attitudes that have characterized the right-wing response to the coronavirus pandemic — refusal to acknowledge facts, accusations that scientists are part of a vast liberal conspiracy, refusal to address the crisis — were foreshadowed in the climate debate.

Yet from the response to Covid-19 among Republican officials — especially the opposition to lifesaving vaccines — it’s hard to escape the conclusion that the paranoid, anti-rational streak in American politics isn’t as bad as we thought; it’s much, much worse.

In 1736 Benjamin Franklin's son died of smallpox before Franklin could get him inoculated.

He had to publish a letter then to tamp down rumors that his son had died *from* the inoculation. Toward the end of his life he said he'd "long regretted bitterly" not inoculating his son.

Benjamin Franklin in his autobiography said:

“In 1736 I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the smallpox taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation. This I mention for the sake of the parents who omit that operation, on the supposition that they should never forgive themselves if a child died under it; my example showing that the regret may be the same either way, and that, therefore, the safer should be chosen.”1

Her god is a dick.

Mindy Greene from Provo, UT read articles on Facebook and prayed whether she should have her family vaccinated. God said no. Her husband is now fighting for his life in the ICU for over a month. She says she now realizes the “studies” she read were bogus and the “experts,”frauds.
