Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck says that GOP hopeful Mitt Romney’s poll numbers have fallen as a part of a plan from God to make it obvious to the American people that divine intervention was responsible when Republicans take the White House in November.
“I know Mitt Romney wasn’t your first choice, nor was he mine,” Beck recently told controversial “historian” David Barton in a video clip highlighted by Right Wing Watch on Monday. “I am to the point that — A — God is trying to make this so clear to us that if it happens, it’s his finger. Because nothing looks good.”
“And yet, everybody I know who I consider a spiritual giant feels good,” he continued. “And it bothers me that I feel good because, I’m like, there’s no reason that I should feel good on this.”
The former Fox News host went on to explain that Romney’s hidden private life proved that he was “kind of on the line” with President George Washington.

The Supreme Court won’t hear state, mining and oil industry challenges to regulations issued at the tail end of Bill Clinton’s presidency that are aimed at protecting wide swaths of national forest lands.
The justices on Monday said they would let stand an appellate decision upholding the so-called roadless rule, which prevents road construction and timber harvesting on 58.5 million acres of National Forest System lands.
The justices without comment turned back petitions from the state of Wyoming and the mining industry challenging the rule, which was finalized in January 2001. Groups including the American Petroleum Institute, which is the oil industry’s main trade group, had joined the effort to win Supreme Court review.
Eight other states had also urged review, according to Bloomberg.

After Obama guidance, Lockheed won’t issue layoff notices this year

Lockheed Martin said Monday it will not issue employee layoff notices this year, ending an election-year showdown with the Obama administration.
The company said it based its decision on new guidance issued Friday by the Office of Management and Budget and the Pentagon.
The guidance said the Pentagon did not anticipate killing any contracts on Jan. 2, the day automatic spending cuts are set to begin hitting defense spending. The guidance also said the federal government would cover severance costs that are mandated under a federal layoff notices law.
The decision by Lockheed means tens of thousands won't get layoff notices days before Election Day, which might have cast a crucial blow against President Obama's reelection chances.

“Oh, shit!” Philadelphia cop sucker punches woman celebrating Latino heritage (w-Video)
A Philadelphia police officer has been caught on video allegedly punching a woman in the face after she appeared to throw water on him during the city’s Puerto Rican Day Parade over the weekend.

The clip shows the unnamed woman tossing water in the air in the direction of a group of police officers. A second person also throws water in their direction.
One officer in a white shirt runs over to the woman and punches her in the face as she’s walking away, laying her flat on her back.
“Oh, shit!” a bystander can be heard saying.
Video of the incident dated Sept. 30, 2012 was uploaded by YouTube user Gisela Valentin on Sunday.
