kpete's JournalOBAMA: "I’m anticipating a Democrat succeeding me - I’m confident in wisdom of the American people"
A reporter asked:
To put a finer point on the climate change question, can leaders gathered here believe that the United States will keep its commitments even after youve left office, if a Republican succeeds you in the White House?
He said:
Just with respect to my successor, let me first of all say that Im anticipating a Democrat succeeding me. Im confident in the wisdom of the American people on that front.
However, Obama did say that if somebody from a different party happens to succeed him, they will learn it isnt all daydreams and unicorns in how to get things done. He said:
But even if somebody from a different party succeeded me, one of the things that you find is when youre in this job, you think about it differently than when youre just running for the job. What you realize is what I mentioned earlier, that American leadership involves not just playing to narrow constituencies back home, but you are now at the center of what happens around the world.
.........
Needless to say, the president seems very confident that the American people will choose whats best for the nation, and that is electing a Democrat to continue our progress forward.

On Nov. 29, 1992, Dear showed up to the womans house while she attempted to take out the trash, according to the police report. He then put a knife to her throat, forced her back into the residence, onto her couch and then struck her in the mouth before sexually assaulting her, the report states.
The woman reported to police that the sexual assault continued on the floor near a coffee table before Dear dragged her to a bedroom and continued the assault on a bed.
After Dear left her house, the woman called a friend and was taken to a hospital.

When the U.K.-based drama teacher got a homophobic text from one of his students' parents, he was shocked. The parent had texted the founder of the Talking Props Theatre School that their children would no longer attend his class because of his "lifestyle."
"Hi Michael. Following our chat this week I have decided that [redacted] and [redacted] will not be attending class on Monday. You have a strong reputation for performing arts which encouraged me to sign my children up for classes," she wrote. "I have recently learned of your lifestyle and as a Christian I can not allow my children to be influenced by unconventional ideas."
She then explains that she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman, and requested a refund.
Though obviously insulted, Neri, 26, didn't back down.
He texted back a response that was classy yet poignant, which he shared on Twitter.

Alabama Surrenders In Fight Against Planned Parenthood-State will pay Planned Parenthood's legal fee
Alabama Surrenders In Fight Against Planned ParenthoodThe state will pay Planned Parenthood's legal fees after failed suit.
Alabama called off a legal battle with Planned Parenthood on Monday after a federal judge last month blocked the state from defunding the reproductive health organization's clinics amid national controversy about its handling of aborted fetal tissue.
In a joint court filing, both parties said that Alabama had resumed funding of Planned Parenthood clinics in Mobile and Birmingham, and the clinics were following state regulations.
The agreement followed an order by U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson to stop Alabama from terminating its agreement with a Planned Parenthood regional affiliate providing services under Medicaid, the federal and state healthcare program for the poor.
The state agreed to pay $51,000 in legal fees in settling the lawsuit, the Associated Press reported.
