Trump: Putin's "not gonna go into Ukraine."--- Stephanopoulous: "Well, he's already there."

"He's not going into Ukraine, OK, just so you understand. He's not gonna go into Ukraine, all right? You can mark it down. You can put it down," Trump said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

Host George Stephanopoulos pushed back, saying, "Well, he's already there, isn't he?"

"OK, well, he's there in a certain way," Trump responded.

"But I'm not there. You have (President] Obama there. And, frankly, that whole part of the world is a mess under Obama, with all the strength that you're talking about and all of the power of NATO and all of this."

Always about himself---Trump to Father of Fallen Soldier: 'I’ve Made a Lot of Sacrifices'

his first response to a searing charge from bereaved Army father Khizr Khan that he’d “sacrificed nothing” for his country, Donald Trump claimed that he had in fact sacrificed by employing “thousands and thousands of people.” He also suggested that Khan’s wife didn’t speak because she was forbidden to as a Muslim and questioned whether Khan’s words were his own.

“Who wrote that? Did Hillary's script writers write it?” Trump said in an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos. “I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard."

Trump is no Reagan. No Kennedy. No Clinton. No Obama. He's not even a Bush.

Margaret and Helen! ~ Trump is no Reagan. No Kennedy. No Clinton. No Obama. He's not even a Bush.

Margaret, I watched that jackass in Cleveland and lost my voice. I saw a Presidential nominee paint a picture of an America I don’t know and have never known. I tried to respond but I couldn’t find the words. I watched his wife lie to a reporter saying that she had written every word of her speech. When she hadn’t, I watched the media say it wasn’t her fault. I tried to respond but couldn’t find the words. I listened to children who have known only life’s riches praise a father who had made his riches by cheating others. I tried to respond but I couldn’t find the words. I watched an audience shout down a Senator when he told them to vote their conscience. I tried to respond but I couldn’t find the words. I watched amazed as Trump got more popular rather than less and truly I couldn’t find the words. But last night, I watched a battle-worn President who had been unjustly treated and unfairly maligned rise above it all. I watched Barack Obama, my President, paint a different picture, a beautiful picture of hope, kindness, forgiveness and humility. And now I am going to respond because I have indeed found my words. Screw you, Mr. Trump. You better give your heart to Jesus because your butt is mine and I plan to kick your ass from the bottom floor to the top floor of Trump Tower and then down again. As I live and breathe, you will never be President. Never.

Breaking: Partially Divided 4th Circuit Strikes NC Strict Voting Law, Finds Discriminatory Intent

Breaking and Analysis: Partially Divided 4th Circuit Strikes NC Strict Voting Law, Finds Discriminatory Intent
Posted on July 29, 2016 9:14 am by Rick Hasen

A partially divided panel of 4th Circuit judges reversed a massive trial court opinion which had rejected a number of constitutional and Voting Rights Act challenges to North Carolina’s strict voting law, a law I had said was the largest collection of voting rollbacks contained in a single law that I could find since the 1965 passage of the Voting Rights Act. The key part of the holding is that North Carolina acted with racially discriminatory intent, a finding which not only can doom the entire law, but also can provide the basis for putting North Carolina back under federal supervision for up to 10 years for its voting laws. Given that the trial court was extremely skeptical of the case against NC’s voter id law as a whole, this will be a very interesting case to watch on remand.

This decision is the third voting rights win in two weeks: first in Wisconsin, where a federal district court recently softened the state’s strict voter id law (an issue now on appeal to the Seventh Circuit), and then in Texas, where the en banc 5th circuit not only ordered the trial court to fashion such softening, but it also opened the door to a finding of discriminatory intent, which can put Texas under federal supervision as well.

Here are some more detailed thoughts on the 4th Circuit opinion:

Trump Resort Sued Over Bedbug Infestation

A New Jersey man has filed a lawsuit against Trump National Doral Miami after he says he was bitten by bed bugs while staying at the resort, The Palm Peach Post reports. The lawsuit says he was bitten while staying at the resort’s Jack Nicklaus building. Trump National Doral Miami is owned by the Trump Organization.

The man says the bites left “welts, lumps, spots on his face, neck, and arm.” Eric Linder, is asking for $15,000. Earlier this month, a judge ordered the Trump organization to pay nearly $300,000 in attorneys fees after a painting company claimed that the resort stiffed them of its last payment.

GOP Strategist:'I am standing at my kitchen counter sobbing because of messages being driven at DNC'

Richard A. "Rich" Galen is a columnist and Republican strategist and former press-secretary to Vice President Dan Quayle and Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich

How can it be that I am standing at my kitchen counter sobbing because of the messages being driven at the DNC? Where has the GOP gone?
