stevenleser's JournalIt took DEF CON hackers minutes to own US voting machines
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/07/29/us_voting_machines_hacking/DEF CON After the debacle of the 2000 presidential election count, the US invested heavily in electronic voting systems but not, it seems, the security to protect them.
This year at the DEF CON hacking conference in Las Vegas, 30 computer-powered ballot boxes used in American elections were set up in a simulated national White House race and hackers got to work physically breaking the gear open to find out what was hidden inside.
In less than 90 minutes, the first cracks in the systems' defenses started appearing, revealing an embarrassing low level of security. Then one was hacked wirelessly.

We're well beyond an unprecedented level of dysfunction with this administration.
Every week and sometimes every day there is more news of some other failure or catastrophe.
Is it impeachment or 25th amendment time yet?
JPR types applaud the idea of Putin dominating eastern Europe & pushing the US out of Europe

At the recent G20 summit, Putin got everything, and I mean everything, he wanted at the time from Trump. But his longterm objective isnt just the lifting of sanctions(which Im sure he didnt directly bring up at the time), but a pullback of the American and Western European military and influence from eastern Europe and what used to be Soviet Central Asia, where theres all those wonderful natural gas and mineral deposits. How to do that? Simple. Promote a political awareness in America, by Americans themselves, that they have absolutely nothing to gain by pushing hard at Russia and escalating tensions with it. That is certainly the viewpoint RT America is advocating.
The thing is, that has been my own viewpoint for most of my life!

"We're not going to solve our problems if we get distracted by carnival barkers and sideshows" (Barack Obama, 27th April 2011, in reference to Donald Trump)

President Obama's statement back in April of 2011 reads like an uncanny prediction now.
In 18 years since Naders run, what has been accomplished by attacking the Dem party from the left?
I am counting from 1999 to present since Nader declared before 2000.
I've heard a few arguments for attacking Democrats from the left that all seem bad.
Does anyone think the country has been "pushed to the left" by the actions of those trying to do so? Has the Democratic party been pushed to the left?
If you can't answer yes to those questions, isn't attacking the Democratic Party from the left an epic and unadulterated failure?
And why is it that those folks are allowed to attack the Democratic Party from the left but if we respond to them in kind, some folks accuse us of being divisive? Why do some folks here think that is OK?
