I did admin assistance for study tours in Canada for ANC & other people before the 1994 elections. There were Terror Lekotas and Albie Sachs'. And the two Viljoen twins. It was a rainbow. (The twins did not talk to each other). The first election they could vote in for many was an election they were running in too. So we got them mentored. Jacob Zuma spent a week shadowing Ontario Premier Bob Rae and the like. Such an exciting & hopeful time.
Could it be that Musk, who grew up in South Africa during Apartheid, has
no idea where the center is? So that is why he might support DeSantis? His whole childhood, if a black person was not working to help a white person get rich, or was not helping them be rich, they were expelled into another country called a Bantustan that second. If they were having a child, growing up, raising kids, unemployed, sleeping, old, ill, infirm, anything not work related and they were deported to a place with a separate tax base and no industry. That second. No social services from the very Wealthy South Africa State for them. Of course DeSants looks normal or to the center to Musk. Musk grew up in a hellscape.

In the group picture Dad is holding the little flower girl's basket of flowers. She must have given it to him. He was such a softie. Children loved him. I miss him today and every day.

Thomas Friedman said something important today. The reason why Taiwan makes
computer stuff so successfully and not China is because of trust. Companies all over the world trust that the Taiwanese will not steal their research on microchips. And with China they don't trust them.
Add his observations to the news today that a Chinese canadian just got arrested for business espionage for stealing technical information on batteries from his job with Hydro Quebec and giving it to the Chinese. There are stories out this month on how the Chinese have informal local 'police stations' in parts of Canada. They messed with our last federal election.
The US showed the Middle East what unregulated Islam looked like with their slow walking of help when ISIL warfare broke out. The Saudis were screaming at Obama to get involved. Radical Islam seems to have ebbed in many parts of the middle East (not Iran or Afghanistan) since then.
Maybe China needs the example of what happens to Russia, when nobody trusts them, to teach the Chinese a lesson in honesty. Poland and Germany have today taken over the Russian gas companies. The world is like FThem.
I think if she had not made fun of the security at the Pelosi home and then lied
and claimed it was MSM editing that made it look like that, I think she lost votes there. Trump can lie his face off and get away with it because some people are used to his Queen's mattress sales guy persona. But Kari Lake was a news person. And then she lied to hide her mean spiritedness and Independents didn't like it. IMHO
The number is 70. If 70 people around you are killed by violence you become
more desensitized to fear and will not hunker down with your family but get up and fight. Back when we lived in villages of 150 people this made sense. Rather than being slaughtered you become desensitized and aggressive. That is what all the school shootings, general gun violence and lack of covid vaccinations (in red states) are for in the unsaid policy quiver of the GOP. Their base: Desensitized? Check Aggressive? Check.
