March 29 (Reuters) - Hosting rapper Fat Joe at the White House to talk about reforming marijuana laws. Visiting an abortion clinic. Calling for a ceasefire in Gaza at the historic Selma bridge in Alabama. Walking the bloodstained crime scene of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting.
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has stepped out of the shadow of President Joe Biden in recent weeks as part of a high-profile effort to persuade the fractious coalition of voters who sent them to the White House to give them a second term.
Harris' evolving role comes as progressive Democrats target Biden over his pro-Israel stance, polls show him in a tight race against Republican rival Donald Trump.
As left-leaning voters question Biden's age and leadership, a problem Trump doesn't face with his core voters, the 59-year-old Harris is taking on more heated topics, more often and more directly than Biden. While some have knocked Harris's performance as vice president and value to the reelection campaign in the past, she's moved into a starring role.

Trump appeals ruling that let Fulton County DA Fani Willis remain on Georgia election subversion case

Former President Donald Trump and several of his co-defendants in the Georgia election subversion case are appealing a judge’s ruling that let Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis remain on the election subversion case.
The defense attorneys on Friday asked the Georgia Court of Appeals to overturn Judge Scott McAfee’s initial decision that allowed Willis and her office continue to pursue the case but only if Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor with whom she had a romantic relationship, resigned.
While Wade has since left the case, defense attorneys still want the appellate court to disqualify the entire Fulton County DA’s office.

ANAHEIM, CA—A popular Disneyland ride was temporarily shut down recently after cremated human remains were scattered on the ride, according to numerous social media posts. The typically glossy black floor of the "Rise of the Resistance" attraction was smeared with bone chips and dust.
The ride was closed for several hours that day due to the necessary HEPA cleaning, the original Reddit poster said in a thread named "Ashes on Attractions." Still, the conversation has sparked numerous comments on the creepy practice of scattering cremains at the park and the psychological effects on park workers — Cast Members —forced to clean up the mess.
For the record, the Happiest Place on Earth isn't a legally sanctioned final resting place without written permission from the Walt Disney Company.
The Galaxy's Edge ride has joined the short list of places at the theme park where illicit cremation scattering has been witnessed. According to both the LA Times and Wall Street Journal, "It's a Small World," "Pirates of the Caribbean," and "Haunted Mansion" also share that dubious honor.

“Extra” host Billy Bush won’t get an extra shot at “The Masked Singer.” The entertainment newsmagazine anchor and one-time morning drive radio host was the next celebrity to be unmasked on Wednesday’s “TV Theme Night” edition of “The Masked Singer.”
“I’m not a great singer,” Bush said. “If you can’t make it with the lips, make it with the hips. If you’ve never done something that’s a little on the scary side — and this is scary — say yes!”

Lizard (for the second week in a row) and Sir Lion were the two lowest vote-getters of the night, and they faced off in the smackdown — both performing “Who Are You” by The Who (which also happens to be the “Masked Singer” theme). Sir Lion was voted out, leaving Lizard, Poodle Moth and Clock to return for the next round.
Bush has been host of “Extra” since 2019; he previously was an anchor on “Access Hollywood” and the third hour of “Today,” until during the 2016 presidential campaign a 2005 video resurfaced of Donald Trump and Bush exchanging lewd remarks.
