The Biggest Lie that the Republicans have sold to this country

Simple..The U.S government debt is very similar to a family debt.

It would take a while to show how stupid and wrong this is.... but,
.........the Republicans have sold this one for at least 35 years or more. It is a horrific lie.
The U.S.A debt is actually getting smaller as we go on, and actually
we could eliminate the debt completely, if we went back to the 1950s tax rates.
but... Republicans lie, and they know it. And they care less....
It is who Republicans are and what they are. But the argument on the surface sounds logical.
Yet.. this is the foundation of most of the budget battles, and our current problem. One
huge fucken lie.

Mediteranian Diet Can Ward Off Heart Disease

Source: Reuters

Reuters Health) - A Mediterranean diet high in olive oil, nuts, fish and fresh fruits and vegetables may help prevent heart disease and strokes, according to a new large study from Spain.

Past research suggested people who eat a Mediterranean-like diet have healthier hearts, but those studies couldn't rule out that other health or lifestyle differences had made the difference.

For the new trial, researchers randomly assigned study volunteers at risk of heart disease to a Mediterranean or standard low-fat diet for five years, allowing the team to single out the effect of diet, in particular.

"This is good news, because we know how to prevent the main cause of deaths - that is cardiovascular disease - with a good diet," said Dr. Miguel Angel Martinez-Gonzalez, who worked on the study at the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona. He and colleagues from across Spain assigned almost 7,500 older adults with diabetes or other heart risks to one of three groups. Over the next five years, 288 study participants had a heart attack or stroke or died of any type of cardiovascular disease.

People on both Mediterranean diets were 28 to 30 percent less likely to develop cardiovascular disease than those on the general low-fat diet, the researchers reported Monday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

This study was published today, and is significant because it proves the effectiveness of this diet. Another link:

And I might add, .... 30 percent is quite a large number indeed.. I wonder if this will ever be adopted by most families in the U.S.A.? I doubt it.

China Admits the Existence of Cancer Villiages In Report As Pollution Concerns Mount

Huffington Post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/23/china-cancer-villages-pollution_n_2744879.html

As public discontent mounts in China over the country's worsening pollution problem and the government's lack of transparency about environmental concerns, Chinese authorities have acknowledged the existence of so-called "cancer villages" in a new report this week, according to multiple media outlets.

Agence France-Presse writes that the country's environment ministry made the admission in a report about pollution in which authorities acknowledged the dangers posed to human health by the harmful chemicals -- many of which are banned in developed nations -- that are produced and consumed in large quantities in the country.

"The toxic chemicals have caused many environmental emergencies linked to water and air pollution," the report said via the BBC.

"There are even some serious cases of health and social problems, like the emergence of cancer villages in individual regions," it continued.

AFP notes, however, that the report "did not elaborate on the phenomenon."

Weight Loss Fact and Fiction, What Works and What Doesn't Work

Huffington Post

Does sex really count as exercise? Should you set conservative weight loss goals of 5-10 pounds instead of 50? Does adding a little bit of exercise regularly over a long period of time really add up to significant weight loss?

A recent analysis of weight loss research by The New England Journal of Medicine, entitled "Myths, Presumptions, and Facts about Obesity," attempts to answer these questions. Some findings are surprising, some are not, and some common notions about weight loss are yet to be proven or disproven. I have my own opinions based on treating tens of thousands of patients over many decades.

We are all different. What works for some may not work for all, which is why I practice personalized lifestyle medicine, or functional medicine, that allows me to discover the root causes of imbalances in the body that lead to weight gain and disease -- matching the treatment to the person.

The good news for me is that I was not surprised by the myths that are commonly held by doctors, nutritionists, and most people. And I know that some of the presumptions will turn out to be true -- we just don't have enough data to "prove" it.So what are the top myths and facts about obesity and weight loss?

Myth #1: If you make small changes in your lifestyle over the long term, you will lose weight.

Myth #2: Don't set big weight loss goals, because you will become frustrated and set yourself up for failure.

Fox News may have fatally shot itself..by mocking 102 year old woman for standing in line

Making fun of a 102 year old woman standing for 6 hours will not work in this country..(see video in Video and Multimedia Forum) here, posted by... Grassy Knoll ..last night:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/101799134

.Nope...this one will not fly...This will destroy Fox's reputation among a lot of seniors that followed Fox without thought. For once, some of the seniors who are stuck on Fox, will think. So..in my opinion, Fox will lose another 20 to 30 percent of viewers, over time..slowly as this one, or its equivilant..spreads throughout the country....
...very slowly..this will evolve into an incredible moment that could bring Fox down....

....This is it...in my opinion...Yes, some will stay with Fox..of course...but to lose 20 to 30 percent more viewers as Fox gets pounded over time...and it will take time..like the 47 percent statement..will destroy Roger the asshole.
.....Or..maybe they will apologize...but if they do.......it is will be like that asshole who discussed "legitimate rape.."...too late..too little. Roger will have to fire all three of those talkers..and he won't..But that mocking must go viral..and it will...slowly, as the rest of the media picks this up..This one will be really fun to watch..

DCFS: Credible Evidence of Abuse Exists at Main West..

Source: Chicago Tribune

Tribune reporter
9:37 p.m. CST, February 9, 2013

The state’s child welfare agency has ruled that two staff members at Maine West High School abused and neglected children, a revelation that appears to be linked to a soccer team hazing scandal at the Des Plaines school involving allegations of beating and sodomy.

An Illinois Department of Children and Family Services investigation concluded on January 30 that there were “indicated” reports of abuse and neglect against both staff members, according to spokesman Dave Clarkin. An “indicated” report means that the agency uncovered credible evidence that abuse took place.
Clarkin declined to comment on whether the targets of the investigation were boys and girls varsity coach Michael Divincenzo and freshman boys coach Emilio Rodriguez

Both men, who have denied knowledge of hazing and could not be reached for comment Saturday, have been suspended and face being fired in the wake of the scandal that was revealed in November.

Main West High School is in Des Plaines Illinois...
Des Plaines is a suburb of Chicago..approximately 5 to 8 miles Northwest of Chicago depending on how you measure. It is 3-4 miles northeast of O Hare Airport.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

This story now has the kind of proof will keep this going for a long time. This kind of thing is not supposed to happen in a suburb like
Dis Plaines. Actually this kind of thing can happen anywhere there is lax control over sports or deranged coaches. Not new, just very very sad...
