The grammar police have invaded Yahoo Mail... DU. too....just now....OH..NO

right here in River City

here is what happened. I tried to type this post using a small I, but the grammar police automatically changed the small I to a big I without my permission. Now..if I want a small I (I) note ...I cannot use it even when I put it in (I) like I just did..it automatically changes it to a big I ...so try it ...now the spelling police are here too...it kinda changes a word that it knows is spelled wrong, to the correct spelling........................................................ or..it underlines the word in red to tell me I got it wrong..

so?????????????????????????? thank you.....

A joke about a senior citizen...good twist..

An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He was very stubborn about going to the doctor because of the "looks of those things", but finally went and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of very tiny hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%. (and you really couldn't see them) The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the Doctor said, "Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again." The gentleman replied, "Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to their conversations. I've changed my will three times!"

An Ode to ..."Stuff"

When will it be enough.
I hope to organize soon,'
Will it be today,
Or tomorrow noon?

Stuff, Stuff, Stuff...
Can I ever get rid of stuff?
Throw it out in a huff?
Throw it over there,
Throw it over here
Where did I get this much stuff?

How much is enough?
Of this pile of this stuff?
When will it all be gone?
Probably not for a while
and then I can smile
When I get rid of all these piles of stuff.....

thank you ....hold off the applause....

Joke: One Last Request..(kinda ugly joke)

John was on his deathbed and gasped pitifully. 'Give me one last request, dear,' he said.
'Of course, John,' his wife said softly.
'Six months after I die,' he said, 'I want you to marry Bob.'
'But I thought you hated Bob,' she said.
With his last breath John said, 'I do!'

Warning: ... OLDER MEN SCAM.....

WARNING: OLDER MEN SCAM

Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it.
A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular customers at Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, and even Wal-Mart. This one caught me totally by surprise. Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works:

Two nice-looking, college-aged girls will come over to your car or truck as you are packing your purchases into your vehicle. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts (It's impossible not to look). When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' but instead ask for a ride to McDonald's. You agree and they climb into the vehicle. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen May 5th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also June 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 27th, and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of us older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found even cheaper ones for $.99 at the dollar store and bought them out in three of their stores.

Also, you never get to eat at McDonald's. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth from Lowe's, to Home Depot, to Costco, Etc.
Please, send this on to all the older men that you know and warn them to be on the lookout for this scam. (The best times are just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon.)

oh..it is just a another sexist joke.....oh well...

A Lot Of Info...On the Word..."UP"

UP

Read until the end ... you'll laugh.
This two-letter word in English has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that word is 'UP.' It is listed in the dictionary

as an adv ,prep , adj, noun, verb.

It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP?

At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP, and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends, brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and fix UP the old car.

At other times this little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.

To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.

We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!

To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look UP the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4 of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions.

If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more.

When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP. When it rains, it soaks UP the earth. When it does not rain for awhile, things dry UP. One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now . . . my time is UP!

Oh . . . one more thing: What is the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?

U

P!

Did that one crack you UP?

Don't screw UP. Send this to those you look UP in your address book . . . or not . .. .
it's UP to you.

Now I'll shut UP

Glacier Covered With Blankets to Reduce Summer Ice Melt: NBC

http://photoblog.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/06/27/19170081-glacier-covered-with-blankets-to-reduce-summer-ice-melt?lite

By David R Arnott, NBC News

People living near the Rhone glacier in the central Alps of Switzerland have come up with a striking tactic to counter the effects of climate change. Each summer the glacier is protected by blankets to keep ice melt to a minimum, the European Pressphoto Agency reports.

Like other glaciers in the Alps, the Rhone has retreated dramatically in the past 150 years, according to research cited by the Earth Institute at Columbia University.

Each year, a tunnel is carved into the ice to enable visitors to walk inside the glacier, which is the source of the Rhone River.

Oakland Police Department Settlement: City Agreed to Pay $1 Million To Protesters

Aaron Sankin

The City of Oakland has agreed to pay approximately $1 million to end a lawsuit filed on behalf of 150 demonstrators alleging police misconduct in their 2010 mass arrest.

The preliminary settlement approved by a federal judge ends the class-action lawsuit filed by the National Lawyers Guild on behalf of 150 people arrested but not charged with a crime during a protest in November 2010. The protest followed the sentencing of former BART police Officer Johannes Mehserle for the shooting death of Oscar Grant, which the demonstrators complained was unacceptably light.

During the demonstration, protesters said, police funneled them onto a side street, where officers surrounded them and announced they were under arrest.

"We were never given a warning or a chance to leave," Dan Spalding, a legal observer with the National Lawyers Guild who was present at the march, said in a statement Monday. "We were handcuffed and left sitting on the street and then in buses for a total of about eight hours without access to a bathroom. People urinated in their pants as we sat in the hot, crowded bus."
