Decision on abortion rights proposal coming today

(WXYZ) — The State Board of Canvassers which is made up of two democrats and two republicans will be meeting today to decide if an abortion rights proposal will be on the November ballot.

The 'Reproductive Freedom for All' petition got more than the 425,000 signatures needed to qualify for the ballot and today the board will meet at 9 a.m. in Lansing to decide the future of this proposal.

The proposed constitutional amendment would nullify a 91-year-old state law that would completely ban abortion in Michigan except if the mother's life is in jeopardy.

Darci McConnell from Reproduction Freedom for All says her group is hopeful that the 75,000 signatures collected will help secure Michigan's abortion rights.

Trump's first statement about the photo of classified records claims he "declassified" all of them.

Trump's first statement about the photo of classified records claims he "declassified" all of them. Notably, Trump's lawyers did not say this in their lawsuit and, per DOJ, never represented that anything had been declassified during their months of talks. https://politico.com/news/2022/08/3

Michigan to deepen Native American history in social studies standards

Generations of Native American children across the country were taken from their homes and brought to federally funded boarding schools that banned their native languages, clothing and traditions.

Now Michigan is ensuring public school students learn the history of abuse at those boarding schools that once tried to erase Indigenous culture. They’ll also learn about the 12 federally recognized tribes in Michigan, tribal governance, economies of early civilizations, the Trail of Tears, causes of the Mexican-American War, and more.

Lawmakers infused the 2022-23 school aid budget with $750,000 to update state social studies standards and add modules about Indigenous tribal history for students in grades 8 through 12.

Michigan is among a number of states including Idaho, North Dakota, and Wisconsin that are beginning to bolster their curriculums to include more lessons about Indigenous history that tribes say have been lacking.

Andrew Weissmann thread: Gov summation in Trump prosecution (also DOJ BIG PICTURE... indict)

DOJ BIG PICTURE: you don’t make a filing this strong, bold, and factually accusatory if you don’t have every intention to indict.

Gov summation in Trump prosecution:
Of course Trump knew he had govt docs, that were classified at highest level, and lied about that to govt to hide it. Consider:
- the 18 month length of time he held these docs
-the volume - 26 boxes in total
-the location of the docs, ...

including in his own office
-the docs were found among his own personal items, like his passports
-the types of docs; we are not talking about scraps of unimportant papers; these are docs about the govt's top secrets
- the evidence that shows consciousness of guilt, including...

-delaying for months and months to return 15 boxes to the Archives
-fighting the Archives telling the FBI about the docs
-only returning a redweld of even docs after being served with a GJ subpoena
-giving DOs a required certification that was false...

-in saying a diligent search was done, which can't have happened as there were many more docs easily found;
-false statement saying docs were only in one storage location when they weren't
-blocking DOJ from looking in storage location
--DOJ search turned up even more docs...

including in desk of his office.
-Do you think this all happened for 18 months WITHOUT Trump knowing, and his lawyers did this without consulting with the client?
-And all this evidence is BEFORE we consider witnesses who we called at the trial about Trump's knowing....

-that he should not take docs from WH, and should send them to Archives
-that he was in charge of packing material from WH
-that the process was secretive
-that the lawyers Corcoran and Bobb could not ethically file the certification without discussing with Trump [insert proof...

of what Corcoran & Bobb say, as required by court to reveal who authorized statements to DOJ that they made]
-[insert proof of surveillance tapes & witnesses of moving boxes to obstruct discovery of docs by DOJ]
-There is only one verdict....

consistent with this proof; we ask you to return a verdict of:
guilty on espionage related charges (793/2071);
guilty on contempt of GJ subpoena (402);
guilty on obstruction related charges (1001/1519)
guilty on unlawful retention of govt docs (641).

The House Judiciary GOP's take on the lastest document news:

That TIME Magazine cover was huge threat to national security. 🙄

Talk about seeing the forest for the trees, and then knocking down the forest to build a temple shrine to Trump.

Ruben Gallego to Herschel Walker: My son got a Paw Patrol badge. Think that gives you both... 🤣

While ⁦@ReverendWarnock⁩ was calling law enforcement "thugs and bullies" I was proud to serve the blue as an Honorary Agent and Special Deputy Sheriff of Cobb County for many years.

My son got a Paw Patrol badge. Think that gives you both the same authority. #gasen
