abqtommy's JournalI got two "403 Forbidden" notices today on DU between 3:30pm and 4:45pm. How's
everyone doing with this today? Doing a "page back" and some maneuvering got me back
on track but it's still irritating.
From BBC, Entertainment and Arts: "PG Wodehouse: Why India still holds a flame
for the English author"...
P.G. Wodehouse is one of my favorite authors. This is an informative article with many photos.
From article: 'PG Wodehouse, creator of Jeeves and Bertie Wooster, was the most English novelist imaginable. His comic world was old-fashioned well before he died 45 years ago - crammed with disapproving aunts in hats, eccentric aristocrats and wealthy young men about town getting into scrapes.
But he has countless fans around the world - not least in India, a country Wodehouse never set foot in.
snip
In fact Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881 - 1975) became an Indian favourite even as quite a young writer - though he never went there and he barely mentions India in 71 of his novels or in his many short stories. Yet he was read there avidly and his most popular books still sell in English-language bookshops.'

Did you hear about the boy who met a girl while they were both walking in the fog?
It was a "mist opportunity"*...
*disclaimer: I first read these words in a caption on the Guardian Pictures Of Scotland today.
I've long enjoyed the humor displayed by whoever at The Guardian writes their captions!

Good News From The BBC: Elephant rescued from deep well in a 14-hour operation
A team of 50 people have helped rescue a male elephant from a deep well in Dharmapuri, southern India.
Local villagers dropped banana leaves down for the elephant to eat as the rescue dragged on through the night.
The bull was eventually brought to the surface upside down, as cranes and belts lifted it to safety.

I do love me the elephants!
For anyone who'd enjoy watching some Three Stooges episodes, I view them on Saturday
afternoons on Comcast channel 3/199. That's MeTV. Runs until 7 pm.

I find this collection and others like it to be extremely educational, relaxing and healing ways to realize that there is much to celebrate in life. Enjoy!

11-18-20 Another update on the poor "page back" function I have experienced on DU...
see https://www.democraticunderground.com/100214558501 for the most previous update.
So now what I've found is that if I used the "GO" button on the DU page it doesn't help at
all. BUT if I use the "Refresh Page" button in my browser's (Firefox) address bar the
"page back" function as I browse through various posts is pleasantly normal. This may be as
good as it gets and that's fine with me!
Thank you all for your patience with me. It's been a big deal to me.
Oh Canada! Say it isn't so! "Vast majority of travellers entering Canada allowed to skip 14-day
quarantine"
snip
"More than five million arrivals into Canada have been allowed to skip the 14-day quarantine requirement put in place when the country closed its borders to non-essential travel in late March, the Canada Border Services Agency estimates.
The data which was compiled by the CBSA/Canada Border Services Agency at the request of CBC News shows that more than 80 per cent of the 6.5 million total arrivals into Canada between March 31 and Nov. 12 were exempt from the quarantine meant to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
The arrival numbers include repeat entries by the same person.
The federal government exempts travellers from quarantine when they're providing services deemed "essential." Those exempt include flight crew and emergency response workers, as well as truck drivers who cross the border multiple times."

Hmm... sounds a lot like the complacency that is present in the U.S. and other places
around the world. I have people that I love in Canada, in the U.S. and other places too
and I am pissed off!
Anyone who thinks things in Canada are always rosy needs to read the CBC News.
Every day!
