Florida State Rep. Anna Eskamani says Matt Gaetz, Joel Greenberg sent her a 'weird AF' voicemail

ust days after it was announced that Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz is under investigation for possible sex crimes, which stemmed from another investigation into his close associate, former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg, State Rep. Anna Eskamni says the two sent an unsolicited, and “weird AF” voicemail to her cell phone.

In a Twitter thread posted Thursday morning, the HD47 Democrat said that Greenberg and Gaetz both called her phone and left a voicemail on July 4, 2019.

“He called me and I didn’t pick up (again, I barely talked to him),” said Eskamani. “He left a voicemail and it wasn’t just him, he was with Matt Gaetz too! I shared the voicemail with a few different people because again, it was SO WEIRD and I didn’t realize they were friends.”

In the voicemail, Eskamani says the two wished her a happy 4th of July and called her “the future of the Democratic Party.”

“It was Joel wishing me a happy fourth and then he said there was someone who wanted to say hi and then it was Matt who said hi and referred to me as the future of the Democratic Party,” said the District 47 rep.

Eskamani, who in 2018 called for Greenberg to resign after he shared anti-Islamic posts to Facebook, says the voicemail preceded another uncomfortable situation, where he asked her to lunch and was presumably “high the entire time.”

“He pushed me to have lunch with him after he kinda/sorta apologized,” said Eskamani in another tweet. “I picked a very public place to meet in HD47 — it was the weirdest meeting I’ve ever had and I’m pretty sure he was high the entire time too.”

“He also tried donating $100 to both my 2018 and 2020 campaign — unsolicited by me. I re-donated his first $100 to a Muslim-led organization and I refunded the second. We weren’t even in any communication yet he would donate to me. It was so weird!” she continued.

Inspired by the strong men and women of the community that came before her, Marche’ T. Johnson is no stranger to rolling up her sleeves and getting the job done. From a teenager, whose mother passed away at a young age to becoming a young mother herself, Marche’ never backed down at the face of adversity, instead, she rose to the occasion and exceeded the standard.

After attending AUM with plans of becoming a lawyer, Johnson decided that she would selflessly serve this great nation as a member of The United States Army. During her time in service, Johnson dedicated her life to honor and sacrifice both stateside as well as in the Maysan Province in Iraq and Kandahar, Afghanistan. VOTING LOCAL: Deborah Peoples for Ft. Worth (TX) Mayor

Deborah Peoples was born and raised during a time of great change for Fort Worth and America. Participating in the Civil Rights movement and peacefully marching for justice inspired Deborah to fight for what’s right at an early age, and she’ll continue that fight as Mayor of Fort Worth.

Deborah’s courage in her convictions led her to excel in school. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University. Deborah’s business credentials make her stand out in this race.

After a career with the City of Fort Worth helping connect more residents with city resources, Deborah entered the business world. A trailblazer in the workplace, Deborah worked her way up at AT&T to eventually become a Vice President in charge of growing revenue across nearly half the country. She is poised to use this executive experience to help bring new businesses and good-paying jobs to Fort Worth.

While working, Deborah started a family and deepened her relationships in her church community. Compassion and conviction guided Deborah’s relationships with her loved ones and her faith, and those same values will influence her leadership of Fort Worth in this time of crisis.

After retiring from a three-decade career as a successful executive, Deborah redoubled her commitment to positive change by serving as Chair of the Tarrant County Democratic Party. During her tenure, the county reached new heights of voter registration and civic engagement.

This is an extraordinary moment in Fort Worth’s history. The public health crisis has worsened long-standing issues in our economic system, our criminal justice system, and the very fabric of our polite society. Deborah’s lived experiences marching for justice, leading in business, and bringing people of all backgrounds together fuel her historic campaign to unite us into One Fort Worth.

Asian health care worker attacked in Los Gatos (CA).

LOS GATOS, Calif. (KRON) — Police are calling on the public for help in connection with a suspected hate crime against a woman of Asian descent in Los Gatos.

What makes this case even more disturbing, is that the victim is a health care worker.

Los Gatos Police Chief Peter Decena took to the internet this week in connection with the March 30 attack on a 40-year-old woman of Filipino descent, by a man on a bicycle, as she walked along Los Gatos Boulevard near Garden Lane.

The woman was not seriously hurt, but the incident calls to mind the reason behind citizen patrols in San Jose and elsewhere in the Bay Area in the wake of other hate crimes directed at people of Asian descent.

That the woman is a health care worker makes the attack that much more difficult to comprehend, says the Asian Law Alliance’s Richard Konda.

Los Gatos police described the suspect in Tuesday’s attack as a white or light-skinned Hispanic man. He wore a black or gray helmet, dark neck gaiter, a black t-shirt with white writing and dark colored jeans.

Our inquiries at a nearby gas station and other businesses turned up no surveillance video as police are calling on the public for help.

VOTING LOCAL: Janneke Parrish for Round Rock (TX) City Council

I like to joke that I came to Texas with “$50, a broken car, and the world’s most patient cat.” They’re not glamorous beginnings, but since then, I’ve grown and thrived with Round Rock. My first job in Round Rock was as a pizza delivery driver. I fell in love with Round Rock - the people, the sights, and yes, even the traffic - on long, lonely nights, shuttling pizza from house to house. I found a beauty and magic in Round Rock that I’ve not experienced anywhere else. I’ve seen how fantastic the people of Round Rock are, and how much more fantastic we can continue to be. By working together and caring for one another, we can let the story of Round Rock be the story of those who continue to come here, looking for their own magic and to build their own fantastic futures. We can continue to grow together.

I was born in Pennsylvania to a mother who had immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands because of the beauty and the unlimited potential here, and to a father who taught me all about America’s past. I grew up speaking two languages at home. My parents worked long, hard hours, and watching them, I learned the value of education, of selflessness, and of hard work. I learned that with patience, effort, and a bit of luck, the unlimited potential that is America could be reached.

I attended the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, and received a grant to attend North Carolina State University, where I received a BA in Philosophy, a BA in Religious Studies, and a minor in Middle East Studies. I also received a scholarship to study abroad in South Africa, studying dance at the University of Cape Town while volunteering, teaching children English and environmental stewardship in the township of Mfuleni.

From these experiences seeing the world and making a difference in the lives of those in poverty, I knew my calling lay in service and making a difference in the lives of those around me. I received an MSc in Human Rights and International Politics from the University of Glasgow while working with a minority women’s organization, advocating and building legislation for increased funding and support for women-owned businesses.

I’ve worked with people from all walks of life, from children in need to the government officials able to provide the help they deserve. I’ve seen the impact an inspiring figure has on a person’s drive, and I’ve seen the impact effective legislation has on a person’s ability to achieve their dreams. We need both in politics. We need people able to listen and understand and empathize.

Round Rock is a city where anything is possible. We are people who support and care for each other through thick and thin. We help our neighbors in need, celebrate together, and build our communities together. We thrive in our diversity and our ability to build ourselves into whatever we choose to be. Round Rock needs a city council that mirrors its citizens. We need a city council that believes in the rights of all its citizens to participate in government, to have a roof over their heads, a good education, and a hot meal. I will be a city council member that will listen, share, hear you, and empathize.

I will be a city council member who believes in you. I believe we can build a fantastic future together.
