The Last Jedi Gets an A CinemaScore

The latest installment of the Star Wars saga, The Last Jedi officially gets an A CinemaScore. There was a lot of hype leading to the release of the Rian Johnson written/directed film, and not just because it is a Star Wars movie. Talks about how unexpected it is resolved some fans’ main gripe on JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens seeming like a rehash of A New Hope. Also boosting people’s anticipation is the news that Lucasfilm has just given Johnson the reigns to develop a brand new trilogy, albeit separate from the main saga, indicating the company’s confidence on the filmmaker.

A continuation of what was set-up in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi fully reunites fans with Luke Skywalker after three decades. The film’s premise is already controversial with the ever-optimistic Jedi now sullen, reclusive and does not want to do anything with the ongoing fight between the Resistance and the First Order or the Jedi religion. Mark Hamill openly shared that he initially had some problems with it, but in the end, he relented to Johnson’s vision for the character, which ultimately played a huge part in how the film plays out.

Now that the film is out in North America, CinemaScore reveals that the current trilogy sequel gets an A grade. For those not so familiar with how CinemaScore differs from other film movie sites, it seeks the opinion of filmgoers immediately after they leave a screening, asks them to rate the movie from A+ to F and the reason for seeing the title. The collected information is processed by the company and the results are posted every week. As for what the score means, it basically implies that the flick is generally good.

Moveon.org announces action plan ahead of potential Mueller termination.

Donald Trump is publicly considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, the person leading the Department of Justice investigation of possible illegal actions by Donald Trump and members of his presidential campaign, and the efforts to conceal those activities.

This would be a constitutional crisis for our country. It would demand an immediate and unequivocal response to show that we will not tolerate abuse of power from Donald Trump.

Our response in the minutes and hours following a power grab will dictate what happens next, and whether Congress—the only body with the constitutional power and obligation to rein Trump in from his rampage—will do anything to stand up to him.

That's why we're preparing to hold emergency "Nobody is Above the Law" rallies around the country in the event they are needed.

Use the map or search below by ZIP code to find an event near you, or create one if none exists.

Rallies will begin hours after news breaks of a Mueller firing:

- If Mueller is fired BEFORE 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ 5 P.M. local time

- If Mueller is fired AFTER 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin @ noon local time the following day

- This is the general plan—please confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.

This is our moment to stand up to protect our democracy. Let's mobilize to show that we won't let Donald Trump become the authoritarian that he aspires to be. The law applies to all of us, and it's essential that it also applies to the most powerful people in our country.

Use the search tool to find an event near you, or create one if none exists.

Donald Trump Jr. likes Mike Cernovich tweet claiming pedophilia isnt a crime

The Twitter-bot @TrumpsAlerts posted that the son of the president liked a tweet from Mike Cernovich, who linked to a 2014 New York Times article by Rutgers School of Law assistant professor Margo Kaplan.

The op-ed makes the case that pedophilia is a mental illness that law enforcement should work to curb abuse through prevention rather than focusing on punishment. She cited research that revealed “about half of all child molesters are not sexually attracted to their victims.” Kaplan is obviously correct, pedophilia is the disorder while child molestation is the crime.

The conversation comes just after the Alabama special election in which Republican Roy Moore was accused of molesting multiple women when they were teens. Stories surfaced of Moore being banned from a mall for preying on teens.

It’s unclear why Trump Jr. liked the news story during a national conversation about child molestation. The “like” is just one of 7,852 that Trump Jr. has done since Twitter rolled out the “favorite” feature in 2009.

Donald Trump On Potential Michael Flynn Pardon: Well See What Happens

President Donald Trump refused to say if he’d consider pardoning former national security adviser Michael Flynn, saying, “We’ll see what happens.”

“I don’t want to talk about pardons for Michael Flynn yet. We’ll see what happens,” Trump told reporters Friday. “Let’s see, I can say this: When you look at what’s gone on with the FBI and the Justice Department, people are very, very angry.”

FCC chair dances with Pizzagate proponent in video promoting net neutrality repeal

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai appeared Wednesday in a video promoting his impending net neutrality repeal, dancing with a woman who has a history of promoting the so-called "Pizzagate" conspiracy.

The Pizzagate conspiracy theory, which proliferated during the final days of the 2016 presidential race, posits without evidence that high-ranking Democrats were involved in a nonexistent pedophile ring based out of a Washington, D.C. pizzeria. In December 2016, a man motivated by the conspiracy theory fired a gun in the business.

The video, produced by conservative outlet The Daily Caller, features Pai insisting that the FCC's impending, highly criticized repeal of net neutrality will not affect what users can do online.

In one clip, Pai is seen dancing alongside Martina Markota, a video producer for The Daily Caller.

Gizmodo reports that Markota had previously included an unlisted YouTube video on her website, in which she talks about Pizzagate.

Homeland Security defends White House adviser after Obama birther comments resurface

The Department of Homeland Security defended its senior adviser to the White House after past comments resurfaced of the official questioning President Obama's American citizenship.

Frank Wuco, who hosted a conservative radio program before joining the White House in January, floated the conspiracy that Obama was not eligible to be president because he was not a natural born U.S. citizen and claimed that Obama knew "nothing about the black American experience."

"Mr. Wuco works every day to keep the American people safe by helping to implement the President's security-focused agenda, including raising the global bar for vetting and screening of potential terrorists. Years-old comments cherry picked from thousands of hours on the air have no bearing on his ability to perform his job for the American people," then acting DHS press secretary Tyler Houlton told CNN.

Wuco once hosted a guest in 2011 who wrote a book forwarding the case why Obama was ineligible to be president, and called the president's birth certificate "questionable" after it was released to the public.

"This person, not only does he, with the exception of the color of his skin, not only does he sort of lay a very false claim on his identification with the black American experience, he has no idea what it is. But people don't care," Wuco once quoted a friend as saying on his show.

The debunked "birther" conspiracy that Obama was in fact born in Kenya was promoted by former real estate mogul Donald Trump before he became president. Trump believed the birth certificate to be fraudulent when it was released.
