President Donald Trump Sues The Wall Street Journal: First Amendment Analysis
https://www.freedomforum.org/trump-wall-street-journal-first-amendment-defamation/
By Kevin Goldberg Jul. 18, 2025
President Donald Trump is suing The Wall Street Journal owner Rupert Murdoch and publisher Dow Jones & Co., as well as two reporters, after the paper published an article stating that Trump sent a letter to financier Jeffrey Epstein in 2003 that included a lewd drawing and birthday wishes containing sexual innuendo. Three years later, in 2006, Epstein was convicted of prostitution-related criminal charges, many of which involved underaged girls, and faced several additional charges in the following years. He died in prison in 2019.
In a post to his Truth Social account, Trump described The Wall Street Journal article as false, malicious, and defamatory because the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE something Trump said he also told Murdoch and Editor-in-Chief Emma Tucker when contacted by the paper prior to publication. Now that he has filed a lawsuit, Trump will likely have a chance to probe at The Wall Street Journals newsgathering including internal conversations to see how it verified its information. The actual malice standard would require Trump to show that the papers reporters and editors believed the letter to be fake or that they recklessly disregarded the possibility that the letter doesnt exist or is false.
......................
.....................
But The Wall Street Journal reporters claim that they have seen the letter among other documents in an album compiled by Epsteins friend Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently in federal prison for child sex trafficking and other offenses related to Epsteins activities. Even if the Trump letter and drawing turn out to be false, The Wall Street Journal may claim that it had every reason to believe and did believe that the letter and drawing were authentic, particularly if the paper saw it alongside other well wishes to Epstein and with independent verification that it was from Trump. The public existence of other pictures that Trump has drawn not only refutes Trumps claim denying that he draws pictures at all but also strengthens The Wall Street Journals claim that it believes the letter and drawing are real.
This alone is probably enough to protect The Wall Street Journal in a defamation lawsuit, as courts rarely find that actual malice exists absent smoking gun type documentation that an article was published despite the existence of serious doubts or actual knowledge about whether it was accurate or not.

Trump Administration Cuts Funding For Public Schools Right Before Classes Begin

Trump Administration Cuts Funding For Public Schools Right Before Classes Begin
Trump has made it a priority to target Democratic-leaning states with education funding cuts but the ones controlled by the GOP wont be spared.

For many school districts, the first day of classes is only weeks away. Thanks to the Trump administration, educators across the country suddenly dont know if theyll have the funds to support students and provide critical services.
On June 30, the Department of Education announced it was withholding nearly $7 billion from public schools. In a three-sentence email sent to the states, the agency said it was reviewing five different funding grants. Some of the affected programs deal with support for English learners, after-school programs, teacher professional development, and adult education.
The Department remains committed to ensuring taxpayer resources are spent in accordance with the Presidents priorities and the Departments statutory responsibilities, the email said.
This week, 24 states and Washington, D.C., responded to the freeze by filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging that the withholding of funds is illegal and would come at a great cost to students across the country. In particular, one group has found, red states would be among the hardest hit. ............................

Ive been investigating Paramounts deal with Trump. Heres what we know:
- Trump sued CBS
- CBS called the lawsuit meritless
- Paramount (owner of CBS) still settled, handing $16 MILLION+ to Trumps library
- Paramount has a billion-dollar deal that needs Trumps approval

@DNIGabbard
Their goal was to usurp President Trump and subvert the will of the American people.
No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The integrity of our democratic republic depends on it.
We are turning over all documents to the DOJ for criminal referral.

BALDWIN, Wis. (WEAU) - Substantial cuts to Medicaid are a reality after the passage of President Trumps Big, Beautiful Bill. Patients and hospitals will feel the impacts of these cuts.
As a rural facility, we are very concerned about the impact of the Big, Beautiful Bill and what that will have for our hospital as a whole and our patients, Eilidh Pederson, the CEO of Western Wisconsin Health, said.
17% of the patient population at Western Wisconsin Health is insured through Medicaid. In the labor and delivery department, that jumps to nearly 25%.
These are the patients most in need, Pederson said. Theyre our most vulnerable patients. They struggle with transportation, and they struggle with paying for medical bills. Yet these are the patients whom we are charged to protect and serve...............

An arch crowns the entrance of a long, dusty, multi-laned street in the outskirts of Syrias capital, Damascus. The text on the arch has been freshly painted Yarmouk camp with the Palestinian and Syrian Independence flags ensconced between the two words.
The street is dotted with small businesses getting back on their feet after over a decade of war in Syria. Closed shutters gathering dust, piles of garbage and destruction all around are eerie reminders of what the camp has witnessed. The Syrian war ran from 2011 to late 2024, when rebel forces headed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) toppled President Bashar al-Assad in a blitz overthrow. Yarmouk did not escape the clutches of the conflict.
Before 2011, Yarmouk housed about 160,000 Palestinian refugees, and was a key trade center and business hub. As one resident says, the camp was a city of its own. Within the complexities of the Syrian war, Yarmouk presented an additional layer of intricacy. Despite initial attempts by a large part of the camps population to maintain a sense of neutrality in the Syrian civil war, Yarmouk was dragged into the turmoil. In 2011, the camp was a safe haven for people fleeing the Assad regime but by the next year, surrounding areas had come under rebel control. In December 2012, the Assad regime began employing aerial warfare in the camp; a Russian-model MiG jet, bombed a mosque, hospital, and school sheltering refugees, marking the start of a destructive campaign by Assad, backed by Russia. In 2013, intensification of fighting in Yarmouk was accompanied by a massive siege of the camp imposed by the Assad government. Soon after, opposition factions took over the camp and gradually, the situation within it worsened. .................................
