My favorite Mr. Rogers moment is really a remix.
Garden of Your Mind
Mister Rogers
Mister Rogers, the children's program host,
is remixed in this track by John D. Boswell.
Hey Neighbor, welcome again to this neighborhood.
I'd like to show you something. Do you know what this is? Well,
maybe if I push this button.
This is a cassette player with a little cassette in here.
And there's nothing written on it so
we'll have to play it to see what's on it
Did you ever imagine things?
Are they scary things?
Did you ever imagine things
Things you'd like to have?
Did you ever see a cat's eyes in the dark
And wonder what they are?
Did you ever pretend about things like that before?
Did ever grow anything in the Garden of your Mind?
You can grow ideas
In the Garden of your mind
It's good to be curious about many things
You can think about things and make believe
All you have to do is think
And they'll grow
Imagine every person that you see
Is someone different
From every other person in the world
Some can do things
Some can do others
Did you ever think about the many things you've learned to do?
Did ever grow anything in the Garden of your Mind?
You can grow ideas
In the Garden of your mind
It's good to be curious about many things
You can think about things and make believe
All you have to do is think
And they'll grow
Did you feel like going like that? (hand snap)
Let's give the fish some food
Mr McFeely, I didn't order any whistles
(music break)
That's what they call these slide things
Did you feel like going like that? (hand snap)
There are so many things to learn about in this world
And so many people who can help us learn
Did ever grow anything in the Garden of your mind?
You can grow ideas
In the Garden of your mind
It's good to be curious about many things
You can think about things and make believe
All you have to do is think
You can think about things and make believe
All you have to do is think
And they'll grow

So the bottom line is GOTV.
It's not rocket science and we certainly don't need Tim Wise to tell us how it's done.
I used to see those letters EVERYWHERE on DU.
GOTV!
But I hardly ever do anymore. I'm challenging anyone to explain to me what they mean and what part, of what they stand for, you plan to do to help us win in 2020.
Don't be embarrassed or ashamed if you don't know what they stand for because you have plenty of time to figure that out and to make the commitment to participate in the process.
But will you?
It's so much easier to whine and complain and attempt to push some questionable policy position or attack candidates. Being a keyboard warrior amounts to little more than blowing air. Being hell bent on making a point but doing little or nothing to build consensus. All talk, no action, as the saying goes.
You have to be willing to spend some sweat equity.
You have to focus on being a uniter and not a divider. You have to peel yourself off the sofa or out of your easy chair, plan your commitment and follow through.
Luckily, you have time to figure out, on what side of history you plan to find yourself. Will you GOTV or just complain about the state of the party? Will you actually try to do something to help us win?
When I first became a member here I didn't have a clue what GOTV stands for but one day I asked someone and everything changed for me. I went from a Moral Monday marcher with Reverend Doctor Barber to an active participant in our democratic process.
If you are interested in what I do and have done to GOTV, I'll be glad to share with you. Just ask and let's GOTV together.

I'm sick to death of "tr*mp says" wherever I see it!
Haven't we heard enough of his lies? Why do we keep giving over our power and focus to this liar? I'm seriously concerned we are doing nothing but supporting him by boosting his signal.
We have to stop and start focusing on getting out the vote! He doesn't deserve the time of day! Get a clue people!! We're just magnifying his lies when we repeat them.
He wins every time we do it and in so doing we become the ultimate losers.
If you scan the titles in GD it's like the tr*mp underground. If he ever, or if his minions ever, check in here I can only imagine how delighted they are to see how much we mention him here.
I'd like to see, if he had his own group, where all information pertaining to him was mandatorially posted, in isolation, removed from general posts. How much would we have an environment focused on really defeating him in 2020? I'm starting to wonder.
Trashing the word didn't help me out one bit. I hate speaking, seeing and typing it. I am sick of it.
Sorry, highplainsdem but I just had to get it out. Nothing against you personally.
GOTV!!!
Everything he does is an attempt to distract
From his inept idiocy. He's in way over his head without a tool chest. Attack, distract, confabulate, rinse and repeat, thats his modus operandi. He's the ultimate con, smoke, mirrors and prestidigitation.
He's an idiot propped up by sycophants. We should expect nothing from him but hateful chaos. It's what, as a psychopath, he thrives on. Creating pain is his idea of a good time, that's how psychologically disturbed he is. It's a shortcoming for us not to clearly see this. He is best ignored and bulldozed under.
Our most serious mistake is attempting to explain or make sense of his madness. Our attention is best utilized focusing elsewhere. The more we discuss and debate him and his prestidigitation, the more he wins and we lose. Attention is our most vital tool. Whatever we focus our attention on we strengthen. He doesn't deserve the time of day. We need to focus on GOTV!!

Film Description
Chasing the Moon, a film by Robert Stone, reimagines the race to the moon for a new generation, upending much of the conventional mythology surrounding the effort. The series recasts the Space Age as a fascinating stew of scientific innovation, political calculation, media spectacle, visionary impulses and personal drama. Utilizing a visual feast of previously overlooked and lost archival material much of which has never before been seen by the public the film features a diverse cast of characters who played key roles in these historic events. Among those included are astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Frank Borman and Bill Anders; Sergei Khrushchev, son of the former Soviet premier and a leading Soviet rocket engineer; Poppy Northcutt, a 25-year old mathematics whiz who gained worldwide attention as the first woman to serve in the all-male bastion of NASAs Mission Control; and Ed Dwight, the Air Force pilot selected by the Kennedy administration to train as Americas first black astronaut.

THE DOUGLASS PLAN
THE DOUGLASS PLAN
A Comprehensive Investment in the Empowerment of Black America
The decisions we make in the next four years will determine Americas path for the next forty. And a great deal of the progress we makeon everything from increasing economic freedom to confronting climate disruptionwill depend on whether we tackle racial inequality in our lifetime. For all our countrys forward movement, Black people in America are still disproportionately excluded from systems of social protection, economic uplift, and representative democracy while facing shorter lifespans1, lower educational attainment2, and dramatic overcriminalization and incarceration compared to their white counterparts.3
This is why Mayor Pete Buttigieg is proposing The Douglass Plan, a comprehensive and intentional dismantling of racist structures and systems combined with an equally intentional and affirmative investment of unprecedented scale in the freedom and self-determination of Black Americans.
This includes reforming broken criminal justice and health systems, strengthening access to credit and injecting capital into the Black community, and taking bold steps toward fulfilling long-broken promises of true equity.
Inspired by American hero Frederick Douglass and comparable in scale to the Marshall Plan that rebuilt Europe after World War II, the Douglass Plan dismantles old systems and structures that inhibit prosperity and builds new ones that will unlock the collective potential of Black America.
It remains morally and economically incumbent upon America to fix what our policies consciously and deliberately wrought over centuries. Additionally, in a democratic capitalist society, the direct investment in communities traditionally precluded from asset ownership and economic opportunity will broadly lift the economy, providing benefits to all Americans, regardless of race. Economic uplift and wealth creation must combine with legal and social change to create a more equitable America.
In committing to a comprehensive plan that focuses on Black Americans, the goal of the Douglass Plan is not to ignore the specific histories and experiences that have impacted other communities of color in the United States. Mayor Pete understands that racism is not a black and white issue, and that we also need to address the unique challenges facing other communitiesfrom Native communities confronting poverty and dispossession to the Islamophobia impacting Middle Eastern, Arab, and South Asian communities, to dehumanizing immigration policies that stereotype Latinos and overlook their vital contributions to our economy. Americas racist structures were built to justify and perpetuate slavery, and by achieving greater equity for Black Americans we lay the groundwork for achieving greater equity for other people of color as well.

We should support this cause in any way possible.
I am so humbled as to have marched with him, worshipped at his church and shook his hand. He's a force like no other. We need to donate to this cause.
