By request my jar opening trick...

My mom taught me this trick and she learned it from her mom. I'm guessing it was shared by my great gran as well.

~Find a strong flat surface like the counter top.

~Point the jar straight down, lid first and forcefully slam the jar flush against the counter. It will make a really loud noise and if you are not alone you may want to warn everyone present. I have unintentionally scared people with this trick.

~The seal on the jar is immediately broken and the jar lid can be twisted open with little effort.

I hope you find this as helpful as I have through the years.

The ruling will give a bipartisan house committee access to hundreds of pages of documents from the Trump White House. The committee also has issued 10 new subpoenas to former Trump officials. The Washington Post has conducted its own extensive investigation called "The Attack: Before, During and After." It included more than 75 journalists and interviews with over 230 people. A team of researchers affiliated with multiple institutions in the U.K. has found that people enjoying nature in urban settings tend to experience less loneliness than those who stay home. In their paper published in the journal Scientific Reports, the group describes their study that involved the use of the Urban Mind smartphone application.

The Urban Mind app, is a smartphone application that was created to allow people to measure their experiences living in rural or urban environments. Users are prompted three times each day to answer questions related to how they are feeling and what their surroundings are like. The creation of the app was a collaborative effort between researchers at Kings College London, landscape architects J&L Gibbons and Nomad Projects. In this new effort, the researchers analyzed data supplied by users of the app to learn more about the factors that can lead people to feel lonely.

In their effort, the researchers looked at data from 756 volunteer users (who answered 16,600 of the assessments) of the Urban Mind app between early 2018 and early 2020. Their primary focus was on factors that influence loneliness—a condition, they note, that kills more people than obesity or air pollution. As part of their analyses, they found that overcrowding was one such factor—leading to increased loneliness in 39% of the volunteers. But they found that people living in cities could reduce their feelings of loneliness by visiting parks or other nature-type areas. They found that a single such trip reduced feelings of loneliness by 28% in the volunteers. They also found that when people found themselves in places where they felt socially included, loneliness in the volunteers fell by 21%—and when social inclusion happened in a nature-type environment, loneliness fell even more—by another 8%.

The researchers note that their findings agree with results from other studies that have shown exposure to social inclusion or nature can reduce feelings of loneliness, suggesting that more could be done by health professionals to reduce the collective loneliness felt by people living in cities. They also note that familiarity with the places they visit has been shown to play a role in reducing such feelings as well, though that was not included in this study.

Great news?

I don't think that having an rapidly spreading, deadly, respiratory disease that is exponentially multiplying therefore massively infecting and consequently killing people from the young and innocent to the elderly and infirm "GREAT" news.

Omicron is on track to quickly blow through the vaccinated and unvaccinated, many of whom are children. The fact that cases will multiply quickly means deaths will be inevitable.

Those who have dilly daddled with the vaccine need to act fast. Boosters are essential to our protection. Time to double mask, social distance, go back to our bubbles, continue good hand hygiene, improve our indoor ventilation and stay out of large gatherings, whether the gathering is outdoors or not.

Hospitalizations and deaths lag behind infection rates by days or weeks. And no "known deaths" doesn't translate into no deaths at all.

I'm not panicking but it's time to get real, again.

I would like to add...

After reading the unroll, that the issue of having enough vaccine is not the only factor in the transmission risks of this and other variants.

It is well documented in the African continent especially and in the European continent additionally, that vaccine hesitancy is a major impediment to slowing virus transmission and therefore increases risk of virus mutation.

Vaccine supply is so unwanted and unused in parts of Africa, that stores of the vaccine are due to be destroyed in the coming days and places there are refusing additional stores or vaccine because of the fear and expectation, they will not be used due to widespread vaccine hesitancy.

Vaccines have been touted as our "way out" of this pandemic. However, it is the simpler mitigation factors, like hand washing, social distancing and particularly wearing a mask, that are proving to be the most valuable tools in helping us win this war with the virus.

Too bad law enforcement agencies just chalk up a "domestic" episode

To "meh" because, well women can't be trusted and possibly, most likely in their minds, are the agent provocateurs.

It's time to start beating the drum that is fully supported by Years of research. Intimate Partner Violence, IPV, is almost ALWAYS a precursor to mass murder, mass casualty events.

As soon as any history of so called "domestic" violence is evident that guilty party should be flagged as at high risk of initiating a mass casualty event. It's science!!

I'm sick to death of the ancient presupposition that allows these lowlifes to escape scrutiny and subsequently leads to these IPV offenders never being accountable for their actions.

IPV crosses gender lines.

It's a harbinger of serious, societal violence.

The evidence speaks for itself. It's been researched to the moon and back!

IPV it's a definite warning sign (and should be the first trigger) for LE to get serious about the risks these offenders are to the community at large.

There is also plenty of evidence that victim blaming is SOP.

The antiquated, misogynistic notion that "wiminfolk" are somehow culpable for these episodes of domestic assault needs to be squashed like a bug.

How many women (trans women and even men) do you think there are in prison because they were forced to use self defense against their abusers? Too many!!

Blame is a broad notion and until we stop playing the blame game and follow the science on IPV, all of us, especially our progeny will constantly be targets open to attack.

The primary sorrow of my life is that we, primarily females are not full citizens under the law in the United States of America and that I will die before I see a time when women, all gender identifying females, worldwide, will be elevated to the equal status in life, and all that goes with it, that we deserve.

To borrow a turn of phrase, "It's the IPV, Stupid."

I read voraciously and fast with high comprehension. I love to learn and share. But I will never, ever post anything in LBN again because someone always seems to find fault with my posts. I've had too many locked for stupid reasons to ever take LBN seriously ever again. I now just trash it. Which is a shame since there are individuals who are regular posters there that I love. I just send all not truly LBN and LBN dupes to the Trash from now on. No need to even bother any hosts with those anymore. Using Ignore and Trash are proving to be much easier and better options for me than trying to engage and attempt to make LBN a better place. I'm also getting tired of this place looking like the Trump Underground. Trashing every iteration of the surname and all of the clever nicknames people have created make it virtually impossible not to see posts about the psychopath that is the Republican party's preferred presidential candidate. Oh, well. GOTV!
