Thank you

to whoever gave me hearts. I'm not much at posting, but I read and learn here every day. Just a lurker at the time, I have done so since the days of W. when he was busy running the country into the ground. Happy Valentine's Day!

Anybody here dealing with diabetic peripheral Neuropathy

I've been a semi-lurker here since the orange puke rode down his magic escalator. I've had neuropathy for several years, but in the last ten days it's suddenly kicked into overdrive. I've just now consulted my doctor who prescribed Gabapentin. I'm not thrilled with starting on that but over the years, I've gotten used to sleeping. M My daughter moved back here in late January, broke up with her SO of 7 years or maybe he broke up with her. She then quit her high stress job due to total burn out. She has suffered with depression since she was 11. She's now 39. I've been under considerable stress because I'm worried about her. I also had the rest of my teeth pulled and went through dental implant hell this year so I've been under physical stress as well. The joy I felt yesterday at finally getting my snap-in lower denture has been tempered somewhat by the increased neuropathy pain. I feel like I can't catch a break this year. I feel increasingly despondent. How do you cope? How do you deal with neuropathy? Any better options than Gabepentin?

Rallying in Greenville, SC

One of my friends and I organized a Bans Off Our Bodies rally. Almost 500 have signed up. Going out in a little while to help lead the fight. I'm really, really too old for this. Wish me luck.

Update:

Thanks to everyone for your expressions of sympathy in the death of my husband. My daughter, who tested positive for Covid and was asymptomatic has cleared, and has come down to be with me. j

Remove Trump Now.

I have just used RESISTBOT to contact all my elected officials to demand that Trump immediately be removed from office for inciting treason and terrorist acts. If you are as appalled as am I, Text RESIST to 50409 and it will guide you through the process.

Thank you to DU

for your response to my cry in the night. In between visits to bed, I've talked to my daughter today. She is depressed but still asymptomatic and I hope she continues that way. I don't know why she wanted me to keep her test results under wraps. There is nothing shameful about testing positive unless you're one of those deniers who're determined to go maskless. She has done everything she could in her situation to avoid infection and to avoid infecting others unknowingly.

I have opened up to my closest friend and I'm going to talk to my sister. They are showering me with food, which is good, because I don't feel up to cooking. Another friend sent me comfort food from Panera yesterday.

And then I have all of y'all. Thank you.

I don't know how much more I can take.

My husband died after a surgical procedure on Wednesday and my daughter who was going to come down to be with me just tested positive for Covid. It looks like 2021 is going to be just as mind-numbingly bad as 2020.

Hey, Y'all

[link:https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/governor-mcmaster-extend-vote-by-mail-to-all-in-south-carolina?

I've been mostly a lurker here since I joined back in the Bush days. Now and then I pop up. I'm popping up again to ask you to take a look at this petition to allow no excuses voting by mail in South Carolina. As you probably know, the Guvnah has extended it on a temporary basis for the June primary. The petition asks to have it permanently extended to everyone who wants it. So please, take a look, and sign and share if you're in favor of it. My stand is nobody should have to risk their life or their health to vote. Thanks and I hope this link works.

Yes, we are.

I belong to a group in Greenville, SC called Tell Them Tuesday that has been out on the streets in protest against the orange menace every single Tuesday, rain or shine, since January 2017. We've gone from mostly middle fingers and jeers to mostly cheers. Many people come up to us to thank us and have pictures taken with us. In the past we have fielded a Congressional candidate from our ranks and one of our members is now running for the S.C. house from my district and we're going to help him win. The congressional candidate, who unfortunately lost the run-off, is now serving as President of the Greenville Democratic Women. Three other women from our group serve with her as Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

In July, we expanded to Saturdays as well, in the hope that we can get people who work during the week to join us. At the same time we had cards printed up and we give those out by the dozens.

Besides waving signs and chanting and generally making a nuisance of ourselves, our members have knocked doors for candidates, made calls, faithfully visited local offices of our "representatives", registered voters, wrote letters, and worked for commonsense gun laws. We've also participated in other rallies. We stood and marched against the Muslim ban, for gun control, in support of Christine Blasey Ford, and for the environment.

We plan to be down on Main Street in Greenville every Tuesday and Saturday until Trump is gone.
